Chapter 353 Bad Habit
After Crimson Heart tested for herself that Teleport Scroll or Return Scroll can't send them away, Carmen became worried.
"So are we stuck here until we solve the puzzles?" She found it baffling that the Divine World would implement such a scenario to torture the players.
Although she could log out of the Divine World, that wouldn't even help much in this case. After all, once they logged back in, they would still be trapped at the lowest level of the Abyssal Rift's Chasm.
"No, there's still one more method that we can get, but I won't suggest using it." Xu Feng suddenly revealed, earning the irk among the two women.
They believed that he purposely concealed the information to give them a fright or merely wanted to see their panicking moment. Unfortunately, these two women simply thought too much with their minds.
While they were busy discussing how to exit, Xu Feng had been trying to piece the clues and their surroundings together to come up with a conclusion.
"Well, tell us what it is, Guild Leader." Carmen urged once she noticed Xu Feng was about to go into silent mode again. There were times when she really wanted to ask if he was doing it on purpose.
Feeling wronged, Xu Feng didn't think they wouldn't understand his meaning.
"Dying." He responded coolly. "By dying and not getting revived, you would automatically respawn back at Paradise Plains. But dying when we're under such conditions would garner a severe penalty and loss of experience points."
Hearing that, hesitation appeared on Carmen and Crimson Heart's faces, but mostly on Carmen. That was because she understood or at least was familiar with some of his behavior from their past interactions.
Xu Feng was not the type to warn much unless it was severe.
Hence, the loss of experience points was definitely high enough that could potentially result in them losing a few levels.
"I think we should try to find an exit path ourselves first before attempting that method," Carmen exclaimed, not wanting to lose her levels.
As for Crimson Heart, the mess was caused by her impulsiveness, so she didn't bother to give an input. It was already a good thing that they hadn't blamed or scolded her already.
"Well, it's not the end of the world now." Xu Feng chuckled softly, hoping to alleviate the tense atmosphere.
"The puzzles are hidden and tedious to solve, but with patience, it's nothing much." He added, concealing the fact that they would most likely fail the task assigned by Yaren.
Although it was a pity, he was already content with making a name for himself in Paradise Plains and getting second place.
Thanks to Xu Feng's optimistic outlook, and his clear attitude in not trying to blame anyone in the team, Carmen and Crimson Heart decided to put the matter aside and focus on their surroundings.
Upon inspecting, they realized there were many passageways, but as for where it led, the two didn't know.
Crimson Heart took a step forward and threw her dagger toward one passageway, but after a while, she couldn't hear it colliding with an object or wall.
"The path is too long to determine how much it extends to." Crimson Heart knitted her brows, flinging her wrist in the meantime, and the dagger that was thrown returned after a few minutes.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Let me give it a try," Carmen commented, summoned her Elementalist, and launched a spell. The spell shot straight toward the passageway in the blink of an eye.
However, much to her surprise, the spell didn't create any impact or sound.
"Huh? How is that possible?" Carmen raised an eyebrow and exclaimed in shock. The spell she launched would automatically detonate upon contact unless she controlled it manually.
Just when she attempted to detonate the spell manually, she realized her spell was gone, meaning it was already used.
This further confused Carmen as she couldn't comprehend the situation.
Feeling lost, she turned to Xu Feng, seemingly taking him for an encyclopedia.
Xu Feng twitched his brows when he noticed her gaze.
He calmly took a deep breath and extended his hand. "Want the answer? Pay a fee."
Crimson Heart, who was not familiar with Xu Feng much, really took his word for it and was about to pay on behalf of Carmen. After all, she was equally curious as to why there was no sound impact made.
However, Carmen halted her and said. "The Guild Leader is just messing with you."
"Eh?" Confused, Crimson Heart didn't think Xu Feng was messing with her.
"Information is knowledge and a price must be paid when trying to obtain it." She continued, seemingly justifying Xu Feng's action as normal.
"It's just game knowledge though?" Carmen was taken aback.
Clearly, she had yet to experience the harsh reality of obtaining information in a difficult manner.
Since her encounter with Xu Feng, she had practically been blessed by him, giving her information with little to zero consequences.
"My companion here is spoiled hard by me, so excuse her behavior." Xu Feng casually swooped in and explained the matter to Crimson Heart.
"Anyway, information does have a price, and since you're not part of my guild. I expect a little fee." He continued, clearly not letting the opportunity go.
Having witnessed her drooling over the beef skewer and savoring it deeply back at Paradise Plains, he was positive of one thing. Her money was running low.
So if he could extract most of her money and then lure her in, informing her that money would no longer be a problem after joining his guild.
Then that would be the greatest victory in the history of the Divine World!
For a pitiful sum of money, he managed to hook a famous blacksmith who could earn a lot of money in the near future.
'Hehe, I can already imagine those super guilds or top ones punching the wall in agony and jealous of my ability to recruit people.' Xu Feng laughed inwardly, keeping a stoic expression on the surface.
Meanwhile, Carmen finally caught on to Xu Feng's tactic upon his sudden asking fee, as well as feeling helpless by his behavior.
'The Guild Leader's bad habit is acting up again in trying to recruit people.' She smiled bitterly.
