Primordial Draconic Incubus With A Gourmet Chef System

Chapter 137 Free Food In Exchange For Menial Work

With how much James was licking his boot, Lucian knew he must have informed the guards to protect his restaurant, and by extension, that included the table and chair outside.

[Big Brother Lucian, opened his restaurant early and didn't even tell Lily?]

As Lucian entered the tent, a familiar voice sounded in his head, but compared to her usual melodic and beautiful voice, this time the words were said in an angry and sour tone. He smiled bitterly as he looked toward the living room where Lily and the rest were.

On one of the couches was Lily in her usual black robe, black mask, and a bamboo hat.

Despite her facial expression being blocked by the mask, just from her tone and her hands on her hips, Lucian knew she was mad.

[I didn't get a chance to tell you because I slept in the restaurant yesterday.] Lucian replied.

Hearing her Big Brother Lucian's words, Lily's fake anger disappeared, replaced with a blush across her cheeks.

[D-doesn't that mean Big Brother Lucian slept in Lily's bed?]

[That's right.] Lucian calmly replied. He saw no reason to hide such information. He had paid good money for the bed, so of course, he would use it.

'How can Big Brother Lucian be so calm!?' Lily squealed.

"Good morning, Chef Lucian," Garrett greeted after seeing him.

"Good-

Morning, Senior!" The twins hurriedly stood up and bowed.

"Morning." Lane nodded coldly.

"Good morning." Lucian greeted them back with furrowed brows. Despite their words, the atmosphere in the room felt off.

Lucian was not a person who would poke his nose into random people's businesses, but these people were his customers.

They were akin to his lifeblood!

His Quest of feeding 1000 people in a month rested on their shoulders.

Even the usually loud and obnoxious Hervy remained quiet with a frustrated expression while mouthing something under his breath.

But instead of using his Mana Sense to eavesdrop, Lucian took a seat on the couch. And, of course, it was right next to his Lily.

"What's the matter? Are you guys not going to eat at my restaurant today?" Lucian asked them after a while.

After hearing those words, the atmosphere in the room became even more depressing.

"You guys are seriously not going to eat my delicious, mouthwatering food?" Lucian asked with a hint of disbelief when he noticed their silence.

"Weren't you guys excited about my new dishes?"

"Hervy, are you an imposter? What happened to your loud and foul mouth?"

Lucian spoke sentence after sentence in an attempt to get them to speak but he only received silence.

"Allow me to explain, Senior." James, who was sitting on one of the couches, said.

Hearing his words, Lucian looked at him, silently prompting him to continue.

"Well, you see, Senior, after spending a few days with Lion's Liver, I have formed a certain friendship with them and know about their situation. They initially accepted the escort quest I had posted at the Adventurer's Guild to earn Mana Stones to pay for dishes.

However, due to Senior's prices, they have already used up the Fifty Low-Grade Mana Stones they obtained from completing the quest." James explained.

"That isn't completely true," Hervy said instantly after James finished speaking. He wanted to snort in disdain but kept it to himself. He knew who he could offend and who he had to refrain from offending. If he offended someone from the Orchard Family, this time, his family might actually disown him.

"I have plenty of Mana Stones and can easily pay for them and their grandchildren. But they don't want my money," Hervy continued in a frustrated tone.

He did not mention his Captain was loaded since he had always acted like he was poor to hide his true identity.

"We haven't used your money before and won't start now," Lane said to him.

"We don't want

to be freeloaders," The twins added to Lane's words.

[So they're broke and don't want to freeload.] Lucian said in realization.

[What will the Host do? Why do you care about these five people? There are billions of Mages on this planet, who can all afford your dishes.] The System asked curiously.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

[That's true. But where can I find an Abyssal Creature like Garrett? He is my key to the Abyss. Then there's the Oculith Race twins. Lane and Hervy… well, they aren't of any interest to me, but they are sort of a package deal with the other three.] Lucian replied. He still had plans to enter the Abyss… if it was possible for him to enter.

But that was for the future. Garrett was still too weak to open a portal to the Abyss. To even test out whether his theory could work, he needed to make Garrett a Mana Soul Realm Mage.

[As long as the Host is safe, the System will not interfere.]

A moment of pondering later, Lucian turned his attention back to the group. "How about this? You guys can work for me in exchange for Mana Stones."

"Wait… really?" Garrett looked at Lucian in amazement. "You're not pulling our leg are you?"

The others were equally surprised as they looked at Lucian's expression to see any falsehood. But like most of the time, his face was showing nothing, but indifference.

"Why would I lie?" Lucian asked. "It won't be a normal job, but if you do your tasks well, you will get to eat a filling meal a day."

"What are the tasks?" Lane went straight to the point. They were Adventurers and were used to doing odd jobs, such as walking Magical Beasts, cleaning houses, grocery shopping, and many more menial works.

The rest of the Lion's Liver thought the same. As long as the tasks did not go against their morals then they would gladly accept. Lucian's dishes were worth going to great lengths. They felt if they continued eating his food, they would have a chance to become powerful Mages.

"Just simple tasks that I can't be bothered to do." Lucian shrugged and continued via Voice Transmission to only the members of Lion's Liver and Lily, [Digging holes, planting seeds, cutting trees, etc.]

[Oh, also selling hotdogs.] Lucian added, with an imperceptible glint.

Hervy furrowed his brows but relaxed them immediately after.

[Why did you use Voice Transmission for something so simple?] Hervy asked.

[If it was simple, why would I use Voice Transmission?] Lucian asked him and continued quickly to not alert James that they were using Voice Transmission, [If you five are interested we'll continue our discussion at Transcendence, but remember if you accept to do tasks for me you will first have to swear an Oath that you will not share my secrets.]

"Chef Lucian, please give us time to discuss your offer," Garrett said, acting like nothing had happened.

"Alright." Lucian nodded. If they agreed to his offer, his life would become much easier. But even without them, it was not as if the tasks were difficult. They were merely time-consuming and boring., "Now, for the real reason why I'm here. Does anyone know where I can find low-ranked Magical Beasts? Preferable Magical Beasts from Grades one through five?"

Wang Chen's memories sadly did not contain such basic information. He was truly an idiot, who did not understand that information was gold. Even if he was a cripple and useless, had he been intelligent, he could have been regarded as a useful tool by Wang Ming and been able to live to this day.

Though, on the other hand, had Wang Chen not died, Lucian would have never obtained this body. Therefore, he did not feel anything regarding his death.

"Does Chef Lucian need Magical Beasts for a new dish?" Fenwick, who had just left his room after taking a shower and was currently on the stairs, asked.

Turning around, Lucian looked at Fenwick, and replied, "No, I want Magical Beasts to tame and breed."

Lucian could have lied; however, his lies would have been seen through by a mere glance through his menu. With no other choice, he chose to tell a half-truth.

Hearing this, everyone was confused as to why a chef would want to tame and breed Magical Beasts.

Unless…

"Is Senior planning to use the Magical Beasts in future dishes?" James asked after seriously thinking about it.

Lucian nodded, "That's right, but I will only use the Magical Beasts in the future. After all, it's better to grow my own ingredients and breed Magical Beasts than to buy them."

Regarding Lucian's statement, everyone nodded their heads in agreement. They could not agree more. If Lucian grew his own ingredients and bred Magical Beasts, he would essentially earn more Mana Stones without having to increase the prices. In fact, he might even decrease the prices.

With that thought in mind, their eyes lit up in excitement.

"Does Senior have any preference as to what Magical Beasts you are looking for?" James asked with an imperceptible glint in his eyes.
