My Farm System: Reaching The Top In The Parallel Earth!

Chapter 367 Quard's Misery (2)

Whether it be by luck or because of other reasons, Quard actually survived the day but he was deeply traumatized inside.

Dead... a lot of people died today, especially those people like him who are branded as criminals. They were heartlessly used as cannon fodders.

Since the number of Senior Rank Mages paled in comparison compared to Senior Rank beasts, there are many areas in the battlefield that lack a mage powerful enough to defend the city walls.

Whenever such weak points appear, the commanders of the mages would use the criminals as cannonfodders. Even if they were no match for the magic beasts, they would still be sent to these weak points.

They are not expected to kill the enemy, they are just there to fill in the gaps. Once an available Senior Mage appears, these cannon fodders would be sent to other weak points to once more serve as cannon fodders.

It was a neverending cycle!

"Here, if you don't want to starve to death drink these nutrient solutions" the mage responsible for handling the criminals rudely threw a vial of nutrient solution to Quard and the others.

He was really disregarding them, not even an ounce of dignity was spared.

In a daze, Quard gripped the glass vial tightly. His hope for the future vanishes like a mirage.

What future? Could someone like him possibly have a future? Just how long can he survive in this treacherous place, a few days? A week? A month?

"He... Hehehe... hahaha!"

As if Quard loses his mind he laughed loudly like a maniac. He doesn't care about losing face at all. In any case, it wouldn't be long before he loses his life. What does dignity amount to?

"Tsk, tsk, another one that lost his mind"

"Is it surprising? He looks so young"

"Heh... young people like him are the best! I want to cut him open and hear him scream!"

The other criminals have various reactions. Some shake their head, some are annoyed, and some are amused in a dark way.

"Ha... I should just kill myself..." Quard muttered to himself with a heavy breath. His eyes that once held all the arrogance in the world dulled and turned lifeless.

He was petty and arrogant and that clouded his judgement most of the time but he certainly was not stupid. He knew that it was almost impossible for him to return to his previous life.

Even if his whole family used all of their power, it wouldn't be enough to remove him from this hell.

What's more, is he someone blind to the attitude of the Richard Family? They are as arrogant as him. After knowing how helpless the situation is, instead of helping him, they might be having a competition of who can trash talk him the best.

"With the number of magic beasts attacking, dying itself is cheap and can be easily done" Quard thought with a sneer, deciding that he would rather end his life than suffer here.

However, as soon as he thought of that, the image of Rezen's face flashed in his mind. While he would die a miserable death, that guy would one day become a powerful and respectable mage.

His mood turned a 180 degree turn and he clenched his fist.

"No! Even if I die, I have to drag that bastard to death with me! I can't die yet. Surely, as long as I survive long enough, we will eventually meet on the battlefield, right? Once that happens, I will surely drag him down with me!"

"If my life is miserable, I would simply snatch Rezen's life away from him as repayment!"

With a newfound goal and a strong desire for revenge, Quard decisively drank the vial of nutrient solution that could last him for a few days. Mages like him after all are not immune to human physiological needs.

The next day, a new battle between humanity and magic beasts erupted as usual. Magic continuously flew in the air along with blood and flesh

"I must survive! I must survive!" Quard chanted inside his head while mirrors floated around him. Continue your adventure at empire

He was carefully scanning his surroundings for potential threats and if he found one that he could not deal with by himself, he would use other criminals as meatshield to help save his own skin.

He has become an even more ruthless man as if he has a motto that if he were to die, he would drag other people down with him.

This lasts for several days. Quard was doing and using all means to retain his own life even if that meant causing the deaths of other criminals.

Maybe, this experience made him mature but even though he was acting this way, his actions were all covert. No one noticed what he was doing causing his confidence to grow.

He felt that surviving in this place was not hard. As long as he has enough meatshield, he can survive.

However, one day, while Quard was busy using other people's lives to protect his own, his movements suddenly halted.

"Ahhh!!" He can't help but scream in pain while holding his right shoulder. An intense pain swept through his senses and there was no need for him to look at his shoulder to determine that he was poisoned.

He wasn't attacked by any magic beast or humans but he was suddenly poisoned. When Quard looked at his poisoned shoulder after ripping his mage robe, he could see a green handprint on his skin.

"A handprint...?" Through Quard's remaining hazy consciousness, he wondered why there was such a handprint on his shoulder when he thought of something.

"REZEN! YOU BASTARD BARBARIAN!"

Quard roared. He remembered how Rezen had patted his shoulder before in the exact same spot where the handprint was located.

It takes no genius to guess who actually poisoned him. Too bad that no matter how angry he was, the poison still swiftly spread into his body and he soon lost consciousness.

While Quard was sent to the dangerous walls, Rezen was still staying in the resource point of the Academy. His nerves were completely tense.

As for the thoughts about Quard? Heh... who was that? A dead man?

"Treen, let's move a bit more in the rear" Rezen said and Treen nodded his head obediently, knowing the reason for his friend's caution.

"Is it finally coming?" Treen asked with a nervous gulp and Rezen nodded his head.

"I can feel it in intuition" Rezen answered affirmatively and it didn't take that long before an eagle cry resounded in the whole camp.

In the sky, an eagle with a body as long as three meters and a wingspan of more than five meters suddenly appeared. Its piercing cry caused the low-cycle mages to clutch their ears in pain.

Just its cry alone was enough to render low cycles Junior Mages useless and almost incapable of launching attacks. Only the mid-cycle and high-cycle Junior Mages can still offer some resistance.

"It's here!" Rezen said and he grabbed Treen's arm to pull him away.

"Ahhh!! A Senior beast!"

"We're done for!"

"We are no match for that!"

"Don't panic! We must fight together, only in that way we can survive!"

"Hold your ground everyone, let's give it our best to survive!"Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Chaos immediately engulfed the entire camp. Surviving on a normal day alone when they are only fighting Junior Beasts was already hard enough. What more now that there is a Senior beast?

They would definitely become a feast of such a strong enemy!

"Humans, die!" The eagle said cruelly before diving down causing smoke and rubble to fly everywhere.

At least ten mages were killed in that dive alone and things didn't end there, the eagle opened its beak and it released a storm of terrifying sharp and heavy winds.

"Ahhh!!"

"Brother!"

"No! Anna!"

"Help!"

After the powerful magic beast unleashed its attacks, even more people died. Just that wind alone killed tens of mages as easily as squeezing an ant to death.

"Move! We are no match for it!"

"Retreat! Retreat! Let's wait for a Senior Mage to come and help!"

"We have to run!"

With the appearance of this eagle, the balance between the two opposing sides was destroyed. The magic beasts gained superiority while the humans could only hope that they wouldn't be annihilated completely.

Some mages used their flying sticks to soar into the air in the hope of fleeing. However, they are mere Junior Mages in front of a flying-type Senior Beast. How can they flee successfully?

They became sore eyes instead that stood out and the magic beast released sharp blades of wind to kill them effortlessly.

It was not only this eagle that was a threat to one's safety. The other magic beasts also pounced on the desperate humans.

Blood, blood, and even more blood was shed. The ground was littered with fresh blood and flesh.

It was simply a one-sided massacre. The humans simply stood no chance without a Senior Mage in their ranks.
