Chapter 81 And So It Begins V
And So It Begins IV
Umbra could be seen pacing around in his dragon form which had gotten quite a bit bigger, about the size of a car, on the top of a large tower On the corner of the wall surrounding the Oni capital.
"Man, why are they taking so long?" He complained as he stretched his wings and tapped his talons On the top of the tower.
Chiara who was next to him, also in her dragon form, seemed quite lax. She opened one of her eyes and eyed him.
"It's just a while longer. Calm yourself." She said calmly and he groaned.
"It's been 'a while longer' for two weeks. I'm tired of waiting!" He whined and Chiara sighed. Umbra was the older one among them, and he acted like it too, but his patience was pitiful.
"Look, I understand you're antsy, but we have to wait if we want the plan to work." Chiara said and used her tail to caress his side to soothe him.
Indeed, the reason why none of Christopher's subordinates just went ahead to deal with the Void Creatures was due to Christopher.
Through fate he found out that if the Void Creatures were dealt with before they reached their target destinations, they'd realise that someone was capable of spying on them from a distance and thus, would kill themselves to avoid letting out any more information.
It sounded extreme, but Christopher realised that Fate pointed to such a conclusion no matter how he sugarcoated it, so he decided to just have the armies reach their targets first before the plans were implemented.
"Ugh, I know." Umbra sighed and finally sat down, though his tail kept twitching.
"Still staying away from the others for so long is really annoying. There's no one to spar with or have fun with us. We've just been looking at this field for two whole weeks! Those Oni are too weak to entertain any of us, and we can't spar with each other because without the others it gets boring easily. That and you get tired of it quickly." He grumbled.
"Well, on the bright side. We just have to wait a few more minutes and we can go crazy." Chiara offered and Unvra reluctantly agreed.
In truth, Umbra knew that he was acting like a brat, and if he'd waited the entire two weeks already, what more was a few more minutes? Still he was restless.
Among the things he'd fought along with his sisters, the Void Creatures interested him the most.
Due to his inherent Affinity with Mana, he perceived the Void Creatures differently From normal people. Normal people straight up wouldn't even know the thing was there if they weren't looking at it.
However, those more in tune with Mana and reality would be able to detect the strange empty presence the Void Creatures dis, as if their very existences were dissolving the reality around them, which they were.
However, instead of feeling appalled or disgusted by this fact, Umbra was exceedingly curious.
He was a child after all, and while he inherited memories from his Ancestors, he didn't have to build his life on these memories and could make his own decisions. Hence he wasn't meant to have a fixed future or desires.
Chiara yawned slightly and her tail swayed lazily, glistening in the sun.
After their recent transformations, besides getting bigger, the two of them also looked a bit different.
Their horns were slightly longer and thinner than before, and their claws and teeth were like legendary weapons in their bodies.
Chiara seemed to passively radiate light while Umbra seemed to passively absorb and darken his surroundings. Moreover, their bodies contained quite the powerful muscles.
Umbra being the male had a more robust frame than his sister who seemed more slender, but regardless, they both had incredibly powerful muscles under their scales that might have been The same as impenetrable steel.
At that moment, the two of them turned their heads slightly just as two figures jumped to the top of the tower they were on and landed next to them.
The first figure was Benimaru who stood behind the other person when he landed, his head bowed down slightly.
The second figure was a female Oni. Find adventures at empire
She was shorter than Benimaru by at least a head, and she wore a set of intricate Samurai armour. By her waist was a generic Katana… in length anyway, which was in its sheath.
Lastly, 7 grey lines were on her face, showing off her power as an Oni.
This woman was the Ruler of the Oni Dynasty.
She brought her hands together and bowed with Benimaru following suit.
"Sir Obsidian Fury, Lady Ivory Star, we've come to report." She said respectfully and straightened.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"Oh? What is it?" The twins asked in unison as they turned to her and she spoke immediately.
"Our scouts have spotted the Army of Void Creatures just over the horizon. You should be able to see them in a few seconds." She explained.
And true to her word, a few seconds later, a large swarm of creatures began to come over the horizon.
"Is that all?" Chiara asked.
"Yes. The army is awaiting your orders." She said with a short nod and the Twins nodded.
"Just stay back, we'll handle it." They said at the same time.
A moment later, the two of them turned into two streaks, one of light and one of darkness and soared high into the air.
"Mistress. Do you believe they can do it?" Benimaru asked while staring up and the Dynasty Leader sighed.
"You saw their power first hand didn't you? What do you think?" She asked him back and Benimaru was silent for a moment.
"They are incredible, there's no doubt about it. But with that many monsters, it's hard to say." He sighed and she nodded.
"Then we'll have to see." She muttered softly before instructing him.
"Get the soldiers ready."

"Woah! There are so many!" Umbra exclaimed as the two of them soared high into the sky and had a clear view of everything below.
From their point of view, it looked like a tide of black water was rushing towards the wall of the Oni capital with the intention of destroying it.
"Mhm. But now we get to let loose a little right?" Chaira Grinned showing off rows of sharp white teeth.
Umbra returned the gesture and lingered before saying.
"After you." Hearing this, Chiara was a bit surprised.
'Aw, he's clearly itching to go first but he still gave me the go ahead.' She thought happily and decided not to waste time by saying he should go instead.
The Radiant Dawn Band on her tail simmered and Chiara ran a mental check on the repertoire of spells she had and thought of which one would be the most useful in this situation.
'Ah, that should do the trick.' She smiled and her tail flicked to the side as she suddenly soared even higher and opened her mouth.
Despite her small frame (for a dragon) a terrifying roar left her maw and reverberated throughout the entire area as she spread her wings.
Behind her, hundreds of bright white magic circles appeared as she called out powerfully.
"Radiant Cataclysm." And then with that, a sound akin to something charging up could be heard from each magic circle. And then a moment later.
Beams of light descended like massive lances from the heavens.
Each one carried a terrifying amount of light energy and was bright enough to actually outshine the sun.
When they landed, a thunderous sound erupted ad if a nuke had gone off, and in an instant, hundreds To thousands of Void Creatures were eviscerated on the spot.
The ground cracked and shattered and powerful shockwaves erupted from each point of contact.
'Uh if any of those shockwaves hit the city it's toast.' Umbra made a face and waved a limb. A Tenebrous wall rose in front of the one protecting the city and stood far higher. And a moment later, a devastating shockwave that would have reduced the city wall into dust struck the wall and the ground shook violently.
But it held.
Meanwhile, Chiara's outburst ended, and when it did, more than half of the Void army had been deleted with massive holes that could easily fit lakes inside in the ground.
"What happened to keeping some of the Voidwalkers alive???" Umbra exclaimed.
"Yeah, some, not all." Chiara said innocently and Umbra sighed.
"Whatever." He looked down at the remaining Void Creatures and decided to end it.
"Eclipse of Oblivion." He spoke calmly.
Then everything went dark.
"Ugh, warn me next time." Chiara's eye twitched and Umbra shrugged.
A deep, terrifying blanket of darkness spread over the battlefield and encroached upon every single Void Creature. None of them had time to react before this darkness swallowed them and left nothing left.
It wasn't nearly as destructive as Chiara's attack, but was countless times more eerie.
When the duration ended and light returned to the world, the Void Creatures were nowhere to be seen.
