Chapter 459 Moving out
Jade nodded. "Of course, where exactly are you sending me, sir?"
"I am sending you off to the west side in the slum. There has been a high breakout of zombified humans. We have confirmed they aren't actively passing some type of virus. Instead, they are just killing people and attacking in a circular pattern," the director explained.
"I have two other operators dispatched offering assistance, and with the help of the full military, they are pushing them back to the impact zone."
"The impact zone, sir?" Jade asked.
"Yes, where the first zombies fell from the sky. A portal opened high in the sky and they fell, maybe 200 or so of them."
"I see, sir. One last bit of info," she said, turning with Kieran slowly following suit as two of the other elderly men still had guns on her.

"The creature I fought has intercepted our ability to use our transportation tech. Myself and Kieran were taken to what I believe was the Vale or another hidden spot. We broke the room, which panicked him when he sent us back, and he mentioned the zombies are from another Earth that fell."
The director nodded. "I suppose that makes sense. Also, due to the nature of the creatures, the military executed anyone with bites or symptoms of being attacked. Even though I relayed that there was no sign of them being able to infect others, they ignored that."
"Finally, I will relay the issue with the teleportation tech and have a fix coordinated soon. In the meantime, travel by foot. I'm sure the 'angel' with you can do some insane stuff and travel fast. Use her as long as she doesn't abandon you."
Jade nodded one final time as she felt the chill of his words. She thought, "Okay, so don't get bitten or I will have two enemies."
Kieran chimed in, "Uh, just so you know, I'm not going to do what he said, and I really don't understand why they are so hostile towards me. We're the good guys in charge of protecting humans!"
Jade shrugged. "Sure doesn't seem like it. Growing up, my father always told me, where there is smoke, there is fire. So there must be some truth to what they're saying."
Kieran didn't respond as she followed Jade, keeping her head down in deep thought as Jade came up to her room.
"I don't know if you want to change or if you're fine like that, but I'm not taking chances with any zombies scratching or biting me," Jade stated, rummaging through a drawer. She pulled out a black latex suit and some protective gear, including reinforced gloves and a tactical vest with various pockets.
After getting dressed, Jade tied her hair up. "Well, let's get going. We can go out the front door, I suppose."
Kieran nodded. "I am fine to fight like this, but I am still on a time crunch."
As they walked down the corridor, Jade asked, "And what exactly is that time crunch?"
Kieran sighed. "Well, you remember I told the Director about Ty. I really do aim to help him, but he needs his original body. I came here to investigate but also to find his skeleton body and get it to him, to hopefully fix his problem."
Jade sighed, not looking at Kieran as she put on a utility belt with items such as a flashlight, a combat knife, extra magazines, and medical supplies before throwing on a camoed backpack.
Finally turning to Kieran, she stated, "I don't know if I trust you. Well, at least not fully, but my gut is saying you mean well. There's just something not right..."
Kieran tried to chime in, "Well, I really—"
"But it's fine. It's not something we have much control over at the moment. When things do go south, I pray you will be on our side and not anyone else's."
Jade's voice softened as she continued, "As far as Ty's body, I haven't even visited where they buried him. I still haven't accepted his death as real." She gripped her chest slightly as tears rolled down her cheeks. "So, I swear to whatever gods or devils exist, if you make me regret trusting you, I will burn you to the ground."
"I promise I won't—" Kieran began.
Jade cut her off again, walking out the door. She just stated, "No words, just actions, please."
As they moved down the corridor, Jade asked, "And if you're so strong, why would you leave Master Ash alone?"
"Oh, well, the fighting was done, and we took care of the problem. She wanted to stay behind..."
"Then you really don't know?" Jade said.
