Chapter 100 Only the Deaths in Battle, No Wounded
Ding Zhixiong was carried in by two zombie employees.
The long period of starvation had severely depleted his strength, not to mention he had just gone through a life-and-death struggle. Being able to walk out leaning on the cart had exhausted his last bit of energy.
His body was covered in bloodstains.
At a glance, it looked as if he had been splashed with deep red paint.
Without needing Du Chao's reminder, Xu Lin immediately checked Ding Zhixiong from head to toe until he was satisfied there were no wounds.
"Heh heh, Director Xu."
"I, I have returned alive."
"You said earlier that there was another chance, can you tell me now?"
Xu Lin was about to send someone to take him to rest, but Ding Zhixiong stubbornly propped up his body from the ground and sat up with his eyes, bloodshot and woven with excitement.
Surprised by this, everyone else perked up their ears.
Opportunities are reserved for the prepared.
Not exclusively for one person.
Xu Lin glanced at Ding Zhixiong, who was looking forward with expectation, and then at the crowd around him, thinking that the timing was about right.
He looked at Du Chao, who immediately understood and quickly brought out the pre-arranged supplies.
Two large boxes of instant noodles and bagged bread.
In all flavors.
The crowd's attention was instantly drawn.
Each person stared unblinkingly at the two opened boxes, their greedy gazes sweeping across the packages within.
One could even faintly hear the sound of swallowing saliva.
The starving weren't just Ding Zhixiong.
Others were hungry too.
Meanwhile, the zombie employees around them uniformly lifted their masks, revealing their horrifying faces underneath, with twitching flesh beneath transparent membranes.
The still relatively quiet hall was suddenly filled with the zombies' low and hoarse roars.
Everyone's thoughts were instantly suppressed.
Fear once again surged from the depths of their hearts.
Xu Lin clapped his hands, drawing everyone's attention to him, and then said in a deep voice,
"Ding Zhixiong's case is an exception."
"Since I promised him, I naturally keep my word."
"But, if anyone else dares to steal or snatch company property, it won't be as simple as going out to kill a few zombies."
As he spoke, his gaze shifted to Du Chao, and the young man quickly took over,
"Some people violated company rules before and left their posts without permission."
"Guess what their end was?"
What was their end?
How could anyone possibly know?
Each person looked at him intently, imagining the consequences of such actions.
But after much thought, there was no answer.
Du Chao, seeing their expressions of fear mixed with doubt, snorted coldly and pointed outside, saying,
"The boss broke their arms and legs."
Some felt a momentary relief.
It seemed, after all, not so serious.
But the next words that came out of his mouth made many feel a sudden tightness in their throats.
"Then, he took these people to the construction site and stabbed their arms and legs several times."
"The blood that flowed, tsk tsk, was like a little stream."
"The construction site was all zombies."
"Swarmed like locusts in water, one after another, head against head, foot against foot..."
"The way they ate, so fragrant..."
"The boss just watched from above..."
"Not even blinking..."
A bone-chilling coldness filled the hall instantly.
It made everyone involuntarily tense up, their minds picturing that horrific scene.
Just when everyone was caught in silence and fear, Xu Lin opportunely helped Ding Zhixiong up from the ground and stuffed two bags of instant noodles and a bag of bread into his arms.
"Director Xu, what are you—"
Ding Zhixiong was a bit startled, looking at him with a disbelief in his eyes.
"From today on, you are the first member of the company's combat team."
"These are your joining bonuses."
Xu Lin looked at him with a smile on his face.
"Combat... team?"
At first, Ding Zhixiong was hesitant, but then he quickly realized that this was the second chance the other person had mentioned.
Could it be that he too could join this so-called company?
The combat team, was it responsible for fighting? Experience tales with empire
"Am I capable?"
"Won't I be a burden to Manager Xu..."
Xu Lin shook his head slightly, indicating that he didn't need to overthink, and then asked, "It's very simple, as long as you dare to follow me and kill zombies, that's enough."
While speaking, he glanced at Ding Zhixiong again, with a hint of contempt flashing in his eyes:
"Or would you rather be a petty thief?"
"With your daughter?"
This last sentence completely shattered Ding Zhixiong's hesitation.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
He stared at Xu Lin without any delay and said:
"Don't look down on me!"
"What's there to be afraid of with zombies!"
"If I can kill five, I can kill ten, a hundred!"
Hearing these words, a look of satisfaction immediately appeared on Xu Lin's face, and then he turned his gaze to the increasingly restless crowd nearby.
"Manager Xu, Manager Xu!"
"What is this combat team?"
"As long as you can kill zombies, you can join, are there any other conditions?"
A few of the braver ones couldn't hold back any longer and began asking about the combat team.
The rest of the people also looked expectantly at Xu Lin.
Even Ding Zhixiong could kill zombies.
What was stopping them?
However, it turned out that indeed, some people just couldn't cut it.
As soon as the requirement of joining was known to be solely killing zombies independently, some people immediately couldn't resist trying.
So, Xu Lin directly led a few brave ones to start the second round of selection.
Eight people went out of the gate.
Only five came back.
One of them was injured and trying to hide it.
"Manager Xu, I beg you!"
"I'm really fine, I don't feel anything at all!"
When his wound was discovered, he immediately kneeled on the ground like Ding Zhixiong did earlier, pleading for himself.
A look of sympathy indeed appeared on Xu Lin's face.
He slowly walked over to the man, then extended his hand.
"It's okay."
"I know you didn't want this."
The man on the ground, hearing these words, looked at him gratefully and then reached to grab his hand to stand up.
But at that moment, his body suddenly stiffened, and then he clutched at his neck and stumbled backward several steps.
A short knife driven straight into his underjaw.
Through to the back of the head.
"Uh..."
"Gargle gargle..."
Fear and anger immediately buzzed in the eyes of the blood-stained man trying to speak, but only blood foam kept spilling from his mouth.
Xu Lin looked at him expressionlessly, then turned to the remaining four and said:
"This is the first rule I'm teaching you."
"In the combat team, there is only death in battle."
"No wounded."
What do you think?
