Chapter 55: Chapter 50: Women’s Dramas
“Beautiful.” Xiao Qi stood in the stands, seemingly more excited than Xu Mo, and shouted, “Are you all here to fight for second place?”
The people around him looked at him as if he were insane.
Ye Qingdie quietly moved a bit farther away, not wanting anyone to recognize her association with him.
After defeating one person, Xu Mo quietly stood there, watching the fierce battle erupting in the center of the arena.
The arena was too big, twice the size of a football field from his previous life, facilitating the contestants to fully showcase their capabilities.
“Bang!”
In the distance, a cannon fired towards Xu Mo, and a red streak of lightning appeared in the arena.
Prior to this, the opponent had already defeated two people.
Xu Mo’s body suddenly sidestepped, the red lightning grazed past him, and exploded behind him with great force. Had it hit him, even with the Battle Armor, he might have been injured by the shock, a weapon that posed a strong threat at least in the Gold Level arena.
The one shooting was a woman who showed a hint of surprise. Seeing someone rushing towards her, she sprinted forward, turned around, and fired a cannon.
“Boom…” The cannonball exploded after being struck by a pitch-black dragon-shaped chain, only to see a Cyborg rushing towards her, its speed extremely fast, flanking either side with pitch-black chains forged by machinery.
Poison Dragon had also claimed the first place in the Gold Level arena before, and his points were not far from the Diamond Arena. In this battle, he was only second in popularity to Caesar, ranking as the second seed player.
“Bang bang bang!” After several collisions, the cannonballs were blocked, and finally, Poison Dragon’s chains hit the opponent’s body directly, causing her to vomit blood from the shock.
On the other side, Caesar also broke through the encirclement, defeating several opponents in succession.
The battlefield gradually cleared, and before long, only three were left standing.
Caesar, Poison Dragon, and Xu Mo.
The shouts of Caesar and Poison Dragon were deafening.
As for Xu Mo, in everyone’s eyes, he was just making up the numbers, easily taking a third place.
“This guy’s lucky, third place means a prize of 30,000 Federation credits, right?” someone not far from Xiao Qi remarked.
“Yeah, he made a tidy sum.” another person commented, as the top five prizes were high, with fifth place getting ten thousand, and the prizes dropping into the thousands after that, with very little reward past tenth place.
But the arena came with great risks; injuries, disabilities, and even occasional deaths occurred, with a few contestants having a penchant for killing.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
“Idiots.” Xiao Qi muttered under his breath, it seemed these two guys were fighting for second place.
“Sit down.” Ye Qingdie gave him a look, this guy was even more excited than Xu Mo.
“Sister Butterfly, I’m a die-hard fan of Brother Mo.” Xiao Qi ignored Ye Qingdie’s command.
Ye Qingdie couldn’t be bothered with him, his admiration for Xu Mo was genuine, and it was growing stronger.
Of course, she was also a die-hard fan of Xu Mo.
In the arena, Xu Mo quietly walked to one side, as if he had nothing to do with what was happening.
This scene made many people in the stands curse out loud, should this guy have some awareness?
Pick someone to fight, then get eliminated?
Got the third place, yet trying for second, wasn’t that shameless?
“What’s with this guy?” Next to Miss Elsa, Sophie frowned after seeing Xu Mo’s actions, showing a disgusted expression.
Some were simply asking for trouble.
Everyone in the stands was looking forward to the fight between Caesar and Poison Dragon; with Xu Mo wanting to be a mere spectator, it was somewhat bothersome.
Caesar stood opposite Poison Dragon, tilted his head, and said, “Are you going?”
“Why isn’t it you?” Poison Dragon was not willing to show any weakness. The one who went seemed to be at a psychological disadvantage.
Caesar shrugged his shoulders, turned to Xu Mo, and asked, “Are you conceding?”
Xu Mo shook his head.
“Are you sure you want us to make a move?” Caesar asked with a hint of a threat in his tone, implying things would get bloody if he had to intervene personally.
Xu Mo took a glance at him.
Quite bothersome…
Bending his knees, Xu Mo’s body dashed forward like a bolt of lightning, kicking up a gust of wind across the arena.
“Taking on Caesar with a move?” The spectators all showed a hint of awe at his courage.
Caesar, however, revealed a ferocious grin, holding his War Axe; since he was so eager to die, he would oblige him.
With a step, Caesar’s War Axe headed towards Xu Mo, who was charging at him.
Almost at the same moment, Xu Mo unsheathed his sword.
The sword flashed like lightning, leaving an afterimage, cutting right in front of the War Axe.
“Bang!”
A loud noise echoed as the War Saber struck Caesar’s neck, and his head smashed heavily onto the ground, dizzy and in severe pain.
He was dazed for a moment, and when he came to, Xu Mo was standing next to him, the War Saber pointed at his neck, saying, “Raise your hands.”
Caesar was somewhat baffled, seeing Xu Mo’s War Saber at his neck, but his eyes were looking ahead, not at him, an attitude full of contempt.
His heart twitched and his arms trembled slightly, but he still raised his hands in surrender, unsure of what Xu Mo would do if he refused.
Poison Dragon hadn’t reacted either, Caesar’s calls were higher than his, marking him as the top seed in this battle.
What was happening?
“Raise your hands.” Xu Mo sheathed his saber from Caesar’s neck, glanced at Poison Dragon, his tone filled with disregard.
Poison Dragon’s face showed embarrassment, he seemed torn, as if wanting to fight.
But Xu Mo’s contemptuous demeanor, and the saber move just now, did not give him any confidence.
Xu Mo frowned, his hands shifted slightly, and as his War Saber moved back, Poison Dragon saw the gesture and, as if his confidence was shattered, he sighed and raised both hands.
The tens of thousands of spectators fell silent.
They still hadn’t figured out what had happened.
An idler?
Who was the idler?
In the middle of the arena, Xu Mo sheathed his saber and walked back, making it seem as if he was in a realm of invincible loneliness!
The people here seemed unworthy to be his opponents.
The noise gradually spread, with many people discussing fervently; everyone realized this man was an expert, merely fighting his way up from the lowest levels of the arena due to score issues.
Such situations did occur occasionally, but Caesar and Poison Dragon had encountered him, so it was their bad luck.
This guy was definitely of Diamond Level Combat Power.
The Gold Level Arena simply couldn’t contain him.
A huge screen appeared, countless gazes turning towards the first name.
The Armored!
In a corner of the stands, Mia’s heart fluttered.
The Armored — the day they parted, she had armored Xu Mo.
Was it Xu Mo?
The stands were too large, and the arena too vast; Xu Mo couldn’t see her at all.
She turned and ran towards the exterior of the stands.
By the time Mia reached the steps outside of the arena, many people had already come out; her gaze swept around, but she did not see Xu Mo.
Xu Mo had already left early; it was his usual style.
He didn’t want anyone to know who he was.
As long as he didn’t want to, no one could track him.
Therefore, he didn’t mind being a bit ostentatious in the arena.
In fact, what he did this year, could hardly be considered ostentatious in the arena.
The arena was merely his ATM; Gold Level matches meant nothing to him, but he was somewhat looking forward to Diamond and Star levels; he wanted to see what the combat power of the top fighters in the Underworld was like.
Secretary Jin was the former Councilman’s secretary, and her combat power should be considered upper echelon in the Underworld; stronger than Secretary Jin, would probably be considered top-tier combat power.
Of course, this excluded the situation of borrowing technological weapons and Mechas from above.
And Genetic Warriors.
Having seen the world above, he naturally knew the technological level there was high.
Xu Mo first went back to the tavern, with Ye Qingdie and Xiao Qi arriving much later than him.
Mia waited a long time without finding him, thinking she had missed him in the crowd, and left dejected.
…
The night, the first guest to enter the small tavern was Miss Elsa.
Accompanied by a couple, the woman wearing revealing, sexy clothes that prompted imagination, the man handsome with golden hair — it was Sophie and Caesar.
The trio found a spot inside the small tavern and ordered some drinks and appetizers.
Xiao Qi took their order and went over to the bar, saying to Xu Mo, “Brother Mo, your friend.”
“I saw,” Xu Mo replied, his head down, busied with his own tasks.
“She’s watching you,” Xiao Qi said; Xu Mo looked up, only to see Elsa smiling and waving at him; Xu Mo nodded in response.
In the main city area, although Elsa had made some ‘friends,’ she knew they couldn’t really be called friends; she disliked everything here, but seeing Xu Mo made her feel at ease, the only friend she could see.
Xu Mo personally delivered the drinks he had prepared.
“Good evening, Miss Elsa,” Xu Mo said as he placed the drinks next to them.
“Good evening,” Elsa replied with a smile.
“Elsa, you know each other?” Sophie approached and eyed Xu Mo; this bartender was quite handsome.
“My friend, Xu Mo,” Elsa said with a smile, “This is Sophie.”
“Good evening, Miss Sophie,” Xu Mo replied with a smile, somewhat surprised by Elsa’s change.
If it had been in the past, given Elsa’s proud nature, she probably wouldn’t have introduced a ‘bartender’ friend in front of others as it wasn’t very dignified.
But she smiled genuinely, Xu Mo could feel that Elsa was sincere.
Sophie seemed a bit surprised, looking at Xu Mo, “Since you are Elsa’s friend, why don’t you have a drink with us?”
Xu Mo glanced at the empty tavern and then nodded, sitting beside Elsa.
He had opened the small tavern here partly as a disguise and importantly, to gather information he wanted to know about such as the characters, military forces, and technology of the Underworld’s upper echelons.
“This is Kane, Arena alias Caesar,” Sophie introduced to Xu Mo, “Have you ever been to the arena, Mr. Xu Mo?”
“Heard of it, but the tickets are too expensive, never been,” Xu Mo replied, then turned to Kane, “Mr. Kane.”
“Hmm,” Kane nodded, idly swirling his glass, replying nonchalantly.
“There was a slight mishap at the arena today; he was supposed to come first because of an oversight, he only got third, so he’s not in a great mood,” Sophie explained with a laugh, but her tone carried a bit of bragging.
“No worries,” Xu Mo shook his head, “Mr. Kane must be ‘impressive,’ right?”
“Xu Mo is not interested in the arena; he is a music enthusiast, very talented,” Elsa heard Sophie’s ‘bragging’ and chimed in.
Although she spoke up for Xu Mo, the situation felt somewhat odd to him.
Was it like two women competing?
“Is that so?” Sophie seemed pleased, looking at Xu Mo, “Mr. Xu Mo, could you perform something for us?”
Xu Mo looked at Sophie.
“Sophie,” Elsa sounded displeased, Sophie’s words were somewhat disrespectful.
“Sorry, Elsa,” Sophie seemed to have just realized, turning to Xu Mo, “Mr. Xu Mo, I was rude.”
“No problem,” Xu Mo replied casually.
“Xu Mo, is she your friend?” Ye Qingdie approached with a glass in hand, Xu Mo looked up at her, seeing her in a captivating red dress.
Kane looked up at Ye Qingdie, his eyes suddenly lively.
Xu Mo was startled, what was this about?
Did women always have so much drama?
What do you think?
