Chapter 181 - The Elven King (2)
"Hey, let us through. I need to talk with Laura about my spar," I said to both guards, who stared me down as if I was some kind of criminal who deserved a beating.
"I'm sorry, but that's not possible at the moment. Please wait until the King is done."
Aelua, who had as much importance as the King in the elven kingdom, stepped forward.
"Let us through. Don't make me repeat myself."
The tone of her voice was booming with intensity and killing intent.
Both Royal Guards felt it. However, they were still unmoved; they stayed in front of the door, a sword hanging around their waist.
"I'm sorry, miss. But the King has told us not to let anyone inside, no matter who it might be," one of the guards answered, trying to be as polite as possible.
They knew that they could not deal with both Aelua and me. They knew that they couldn't even come close to the strength I had displayed at the sparring earlier. That's why they were acting like good little puppies.
Still, I had to admit that they were very loyal to the King. Refusing us access to the room wasn't something that I had expected. Nevertheless, I just shrugged.
"If that's what you two want," I muttered as I cracked my knuckles and walked very slowly in their direction, knocking the two of them unconscious.
I knew that they were only following orders, which is why I did not try to hurt them. I simply wanted to get through.
As I knocked them unconscious, I also made sure that they didn't make the slightest noise since I didn't want the King and Laura to hear that there was someone on the other side of the door.
They had probably heard us already because of our conversation with the guards, but there was still a slight chance that we would be able to listen in on them.
Taking care of both guards, I indicated to Aelua that I wanted to listen in on their private conversation without the King knowing. After all, there was a chance that very important information was being told on the other side of the door.
As I placed my ear against the door, I could hear some murmurs on the other side of the door. It seemed that they had not taken care of the noise we had made on the outside.
I couldn't grasp all the words coming out of their mouth. However, I did catch up on a few words. Aelua, who was also doing the same thing as me, seemed to be in a similar situation as the look on her face kept changing slightly as their conversation progressed.
"…deal with…accepted…three days from now…start."
That's all I had managed to grasp in the short time that I had been listening to their conversation. The voice also seemed to be that of the King, as it was not very feminine.
"…good."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
'Some kind of deal?' I thought back on the words the King had uttered. I couldn't help but think about what kind of deal he would have made and why he needed to talk with Laura, who wasn't even a born noble.
Why would the King of the kingdom come all the way here to talk about such things? They should not even be close at all. Maybe they were, but even then it would be strange for the King to come all the way here to tell her about it. There was definitely something strange about it, and I was tired of playing a guessing game.
With that thought, I walked right into the room, opening the wooden door widely.
And what I saw shocked me.
The Elven King was on his knees before Laura, one of her feet pressing down his face as if he were nothing more than a slave to her.
"You…what the hell is happening here?" Aelua immediately muttered. "What the hell are you doing, you fucking pawn of a king."
I couldn't even place a word as Aelua started unloading insult after insult, not even taking the slightest breath. She was disgusted. I could see it from the look on her face.
"A-Aelua? Caedrel? What are you two doing here? M-Mother Nature…?" The King's eyes widened as he saw such a thing.
He had no idea what was happening, but he knew that he wasn't in the best of situations.
Whatever this was… he knew that his reputation was bound to take a hit since we had seen such a thing.
"Caedrel. I know you told me not to do anything stupid, but… this… this…" Mother Nature was doing her best not to say anything for the moment. However, I could already tell by the tone of her voice.
That girl, Laura Virdi, wasn't an elf.
Otherwise, Mother Nature wouldn't have acted in such a way. And as much as I wanted to get rid of her right now. I could not.
I wasn't strong enough just yet to deal with her. My aether mastery wasn't high enough, no matter what I tried to do. I was lacking in that department, and she was the same as her brother. Then, I wouldn't be able to deal with her no matter what I tried to pull off.

She was also stronger than him, and I wasn't confident enough in defeating her. I was lacking right now. I needed to get stronger. That's why, after handing the Black Heart to Aelua, I had been planning on training; well, that was before Amelia was captured by demons.
Things were just getting worse and worse, and I didn't know what to do.
'Should I ask help from the master? He would be able to put an end to this war if I asked for his help.'
However, while I had this thought. I knew that it wasn't a good idea to involve my master in this war. I knew what he was capable of, and things would only get worse for the entire world if he got involved. He was just that powerful.
"Oh my… why are you two coming to see me right away? Caedrel, are you that mad that I defeated you back there?" Laura said with a bright smile, confident that I would not try anything on her just yet. "The King just wanted to bow down to me because of my strength. That's all. You two can leave now."
She continued to smile at us. She knew that I wouldn't do anything for some reason. She was convinced about it, which was strange.
"Aldin, what do you have to say for yourself? If she telling the truth, did you really get in that position willingly?" Aelua asked right away.
"I-I did!" He answered without any hesitation. Fear mingled in with the tone of his voice.
He was scared of Laura, who was now confirmed to be one of the daughters of the Demon King.
I just learned about the identity of another child of the Demon King, and I couldn't do anything about her. It was frustrating, but it was for the better.
Still, there was one thing that worried me right now, the deal.
I had heard of a deal, which meant that there was a deal that happened between the demons and the Elven King. And the most dangerous thing about it was that it ignored what the purpose of that deal was. I needed to get more information about it, but I couldn't really ask right now. I needed to keep it a secret that I knew while I observed everything that happened in the following days. After all, it started three days ago.
That's what the King had said.
This means that three days from now, something major was bound to happen within the Elven Territory, and I would make sure to be there to witness it.
"I see. Then there is no need for us to stay here any longer," I said, furious as I felt the gazes of both Aelua and Mother Nature on me.
With that said, I turned around and left them alone. I couldn't do anything to stop her. Not yet.
My lack of power was showing once again, and I needed to work on it once more. I simply had no choice at this point in time.
Leaving the room with both Aelua and Mother Nature, the two of them were furious as they immediately bombarded me with questions.
"Why didn't you do anything?! Couldn't you see that she was one of them?" Aelua said right away.
"She's not an elf, Caedrel. We need to deal with her as fast as possible."
"We can't," I said, cutting both of them off. "Not yet, at least. I lack strength. You two ignore this, but the only way to hurt the children of the Demon King is through the use of Aether. Without it, we have no chance of winning, and I have only begun to master it."
"We can't do anything to her yet. However, we will have to keep our eyes open for three days from now. They were talking about a deal earlier… probably something related to the demons. There is a chance that the Elven King has betrayed humanity."
What do you think?
