Chapter 155 - A Demon?
I placed my hand in front of Amelia's mouth. I didn't even want her to entertain this conversation. After all, that distinct voice was one I knew very well, and Amelia also knew it very well.
It was the Royal Adviser who was taunting us, trying to make us even angrier than we already were. He wanted to show the people what the queen looked like when she was angry; he wanted to give her a bad reputation, and that's something that I wouldn't let happen to Amelia. However, I couldn't give two shits about my reputation. It could go down the drain for all I cared.
"Do you really think that Zero would have let us leave without the slightest injuries?" I asked the Royal Adviser with a sigh as I couldn't believe how stupid he was.
"There's no way that he would have lost. What kind of deal did you strike up with him?"
I sighed even louder. I couldn't believe just how delusional this man was. He thought that he had chosen the right side, but he couldn't be more wrong. He thought Zero was invincible for some reason, which I had ignored completely. Zero was powerful, but nothing that wasn't achievable by human standards.
"A deal with a demon?" I scoffed at the idiocities coming out of his mouth. "Are you really that stupid? We didn't lose against Zero. We won."
His eyes widened as he shook his head right away. "Impossible… he can't die. He's not someone from this world. He's a special being."
"And you don't think I'm special?" I smirked evilly as I slowly walked in the Royal Adviser's direction.
I could see him shudder as he didn't move a single muscle.
"I-If you killed him, then you must have proof!" He suddenly shouted as he stuttered while doing so, ridiculing himself.
Even the Ice Elves nearby noticed the panic in the Royal Adviser's eyes. He was losing his mind without a doubt, and they could all see it very well.
"Just who is this Zero that they keep talking about?"
"I have no idea, but it seems like that guy managed to defeat him with the help of the queen."
"But then why isn't the Royal Adviser happy? The queen isn't dead, and she even came back with a man after all this time… things couldn't be better right now."
"SHUT IT!" The Royal Adviser screamed out as he summoned an icicle in his right toward the person who had uttered that last sentence. "This is no matter for commoners who don't know the slightest thing about this world. This is for adults to talk about."
The icicle moved at a ridiculous pace toward the head of the ice elf, aiming to kill it right away. However, I stopped it by dashing in its trajectory and catching it.
"Attacking your own people? Yeah, there's definitely something wrong with you." I looked closer at the Royal Adviser as there was something that I hadn't thought about when looking at him. The fact that there was a chance he had gotten demonized by Zero. It was an idea that had completely slipped out of my mind, but it could totally be the case.
And what was the best way to find out if someone was a demon or in the process of being demonized?
This made him angry, so angry that he would start to show his true colors, just like what had happened with Derek back then. That was the strategy I was going with to make him reveal his true self.
"What kind of deal did you strike with Zero, you pathetic elf?" I smirked as I dashed in his direction, stopping right before him as I feinted an attack in his direction, making him flinch instantly. "Haha! Look at you, all scared of me. Get a grip… we're only getting started."
Amelia wasn't sure what to say or do, so she just looked at what was happening before her with a slight frown. She wasn't sure why I had gotten a lot more aggressive all of a sudden, but she knew that there was a reason. I wasn't the type of person to do such things for fun. Actually… maybe I was, but that's just details, details. Right now, there was a reason, and that's all that mattered.
"You!" The Royal Adviser screamed as I could see his jaw clenching. "I'm going to kill you."
"Oh really?" I smirked. "You're going to kill the future king of this kingdom? Wouldn't that make you a traitor?"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
I looked over in Amelia's direction and winked at her as she had already gotten flustered because I had repeated such a thing. I hoped she knew that I was only joking, just like she had been doing back then when she had told her people about it.
"The future king is me!"
"Oh… is that so? But Amelia told me she wanted to get rid of you?" I said nonchalantly.
I could already hear the murmurs coming from the crowd. They seemed very confused over what was happening at the moment.
"Actually… aren't you already a traitor? Making deals with one of the sons of the Demon King?" I smirked.
I didn't mind revealing such information to everyone here since I knew that nothing would come out of this place. And I could always remove those memories from their mind.
"I did what was necessary for our survival!" He shouted. "Everyone here should thank me for it."
"Thank you? Don't make me laugh. You gave up on them. Instead of fighting, you surrender yourself to the demons. You didn't even attempt to fight. You're just a pathetic elf who is trying to justify your shitty actions to make you feel better. You didn't make the right choice, and everyone here should hate you. No one here fucking likes you."
I spat at him as I finished saying those words. And it just felt so freaking good.
However, as I did so, I noticed the eyes of the Royal Adviser slowly changing colors, just like what had happened with Derek back then.
"Seems like the demons really found a way to demonize people without it showing whatsoever…" I muttered. "I won't kill you just yet. I'm going to need information as to how you became a demon."
I needed information. I knew that Ava was working on it, but if I could get some information right now about the new method they had to make demons, it would be great since he found a way to identify the hidden demons. Then, the hidden war would be won.
