Chapter 205 - 138 Elanna’s Tail Healing and the Saintess (10.8K, Extra Update 63/65)
Kael didn’t say much, he just silently sheathed the short knife and hung it at his waist, saying,
"I’ll take this; now listen to me and take off your gloves."
Elanna hummed softly and said in a low voice, "Kael, as a gentleman, you shouldn’t casually take off a girl’s gloves, you know."
"I’m just afraid someone is being too stubborn." Kael closed in on Elanna, trapping her in the corner by the door. Only then did he notice that Elanna, who usually didn’t care for "perfectly mannered" noble etiquette, was uncharacteristically wearing a pair of white gloves today.
Seeing that there was nowhere to hide, she had no choice but to let Kael take off her gloves. Sure enough, her hands underneath were covered in scars.
Elanna looked at him helplessly and said, "They’re just minor injuries; it’s nothing serious. Kael, don’t look so serious!"
Kael’s tail swayed slightly in apparent discontent as he looked up at her and said,

"I’m not upset because you’re injured; I just think it’s not worth it to get yourself injured to gather materials from the dungeon just to repay me.
Your safety is far more important than this weapon..."
Kael looked at her scarred hands, a pained expression on his face. He took her hand, kissed it softly, and looked up, saying, n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Don’t engage in pointless battles; I want you to be well."
However, Elanna shook her head and said, "Kael, when I used to travel with my parents, I encountered many dangers. There were times I thought I would die."
Kael pondered the past dangers; it must have referred to when Baron Newman was still an adventurer or perhaps the time they were attacked years ago?
Kael couldn’t help but recall when he went to the Newman residence and learned how his father had once saved them by chance. Otherwise, it was uncertain if Baron Newman or even Elanna would have survived.
"Thank you, Kael." Elanna looked at Kael, her face bearing an indescribable determination and gentleness.
It was a look he had never seen on this girl before.
"Kael, my father has faced countless dangers in the past. Through all those dangers, he received help from others.
There were fellow adventurers, town guards, knights, and of course, Lord Anthony.
So, Kael, this world is very dangerous. I can’t allow myself to regret not having the strength when I need it the most, regretting that I didn’t spend more time improving my skills back then.
But..."
Elanna couldn’t help but laugh as she said this,
"Although it might seem a bit silly to you, Kael, I want to strengthen my resolve and change my lack of power, so at least next time in the dungeon, I can fight by your side and not be a burden."
Elanna picked up the sword beside her and held it across her chest, saying seriously, "The casual conversations we had at your home further solidified my resolve.
Kael, I have a premonition that true chaos is about to arrive.
It’s not just the fall of a dungeon, but a conflagration that will engulf the entire federation. Whether for myself, for you, or for the country I wish to protect, when that time comes, it will be too late.
So I must fight, because it’s something I will have to face eventually, and it has to be done by my own hands."
Kael remained silent. He hadn’t expected that even if he hadn’t spoken of it, Elanna still sensed the smell of smoke, where lives were as light as feathers.
In contrast, despite having taken his game-playing seriously in his previous life, Kael’s inner perspective on things still resembled that of someone living in peaceful times.
Finally, he reached out and grasped the knight princess’s sword hilt, returning it to her waist.
A flash of disappointment appeared in Elanna’s eyes, and then she heard Kael say seriously,
"I understand now. I think you’re right that battling might be inevitable, but there is still something we can do. However, next time, let’s fight side by side!
As your fiancé, there’s no reason for me to watch my future wife fight alone while I hide in the rear."
He acknowledged Elanna’s determination.
However, a hint of embarrassment flashed through Kael’s eyes, and amidst the girl’s startled cry, his tail suddenly wrapped around and bit into her left hand.
The fangs at the base of his tail gently lifted her wounds, and before the blood could flow, the fangs secreted a healing magic essence that enveloped her wounds.
Elanna let out a muffled groan.
This essence, once used by incubi to capture prey, dissolving their resistance and prolonging their endurance, had become Kael’s perfect method to heal and remove scars on the girl’s hand.
As Elanna’s face turned an almost smoking shade of red, Kael slowly released her left hand and then repeated the process on her right hand.
When everything was finally over, Elanna’s face was so red she couldn’t lift her head. The warm and sticky feeling of having her hand held by his tail made her cheeks flush as her fingers unintentionally squirmed.
By the time Kael released her, she was already in a daze.
What do you think?
