Chapter 157 - 157 Abigail, What Happened to You?
Chapter 157: Chapter 157 Abigail, What Happened to You?
“Ding dong.”
Before Brandon Piers could speak again, the elevator reached the seventh floor.
Without looking back at Abigail, Brandon exited the elevator by himself.
Abigail’s mind was filled with thoughts of what she would do if Brandon ordered her not to touch Ruby Green. She then saw Kelly hurrying out from the suite.
“Abigail, why are you just arriving? I don’t have enough breast milk, he… Second Young Master, why are you here?” Kelly was anxious and started to babble to Abigail without noticing Brandon in the wheelchair. Halfway through her chatter, she suddenly sensed the off mood, turned her head, and saw Brandon in the wheelchair. Her tone abruptly became stiff.
“Am I not allowed to be here?” Brandon gave Kelly a once-over. It seemed she knew about Abigail’s child’s situation.
This was the first time Kelly heard Brandon speak to her in such a tone, and especially after being threatened by Thompson Taylor. Her legs went weak and she almost kneeled, quickly steadying Teddy, her voice trembling, “Se… Second Young Master…” She didn’t do anything wrong this time!
“Go feed the child.” Brandon ignored the panicked Kelly, instead issuing a brusque command to Abigail, his tone like that of a domineering husband.
Abigail stiffened, giving Brandon a strange look. If it weren’t for Teddy’s pitiful eyes, she would have wanted to strike.
But she couldn’t resist the little guy’s woeful face, so she took the child from Kelly’s arms and turned into the suite. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Kelly looked at Brandon, who seemed like an immortal in his patient gown, and then at Abigail, who was clearly draped in a man’s suit. Finally, gritting her teeth, she followed into the room.
Abigail had already cleaned herself and was feeding Teddy.
The little guy was so hungry he was eating with all his might, making a loud chewing noise that stood out in the room.
Fortunately, Brandon was a gentleman and did not follow into the room.
Kelly breathed a sigh of relief and noted the scratches on Abigail’s face and her dirty and torn wedding dress. “Abigail, what happened to you?”
“It’s a long story. Let me feed Teddy first.” Abigail couldn’t start explaining the series of complex events of the day to Kelly, so she replied vaguely.
Kelly didn’t press further but worriedly eyed her wedding dress. “Your wedding dress is ruined. There’s no spare one. Given you’re getting engaged to the eldest son of the Stone family, you can’t lose face.”
Though the engagement of Abigail and Clark Stone was not as well-known as Ruby Green’s and Brandon Piers’, as the Piers’ junior master’s nursemaid, Kelly had seen the Stone family visit the Piers’ old house. She roughly knew Abigail and Clark’s engagement was a family arrangement.
Being older than Abigail, Kelly believed that no matter the reason for the engagement, it had to be dignified.
But Abigail did not think the same.
Specifically, after she was mistaken for a home-wrecker and surrounded and live-streamed by Mona Wilde’s so-called fans, she felt her engagement to Clark had already lost dignity.
However, Abigail did not mind.
“It’s just an engagement. No need for a wedding dress.” Abigail’s purpose in attending this engagement was not solely for the engagement itself. Even without a wedding dress, it could still proceed.
But Kelly was still worried, “It’s an engagement after all. It should be formal.”
Kelly, having worked at the Piers’, had heard about the intricacies of wealthy families. Besides, Abigail was naturally plump, and she worried that if Abigail made a fool of herself at the engagement party, the Stone family might look down on her.
“Thank you, Kelly, but I know what I’m doing.” Abigail smiled. Though she had a large face, her skin was fair and delicate, which made the few scratches on her face stand out.
Kelly couldn’t bear it, “Let me get you a first-aid kit.”
“No need…”
But Kelly had already left the room.
Abigail looked down at the happily eating Teddy and sighed, “Little one, did you miss Mommy today?”
Just as she finished speaking, the door to the room opened. Thinking it was Kelly, Abigail didn’t look up, “Kelly, that was fast…”
There was no response. Abigail looked up in confusion.
