Chapter 154: Chapter 154 What is this man up to now?
Silence.
Absolute silence.
A stillness beyond the bounds of physical understanding.
Abigail could see the girls lunging at her with clawed hands, see the bullet streaking through the air, even see the corners of Gordon’s lips curling up.
But there was no sound.
Just like two months ago, before she became Abigail Green and suddenly fainted as Dr. Smith, the world was silent then too.
She saw her assistant and the nurses gesturing wildly at her, but she couldn’t hear anything, just felt that the world was very quiet.
As if welcoming the reaper.
In these days of living as Abigail Green, she thought life had given her a second chance, yet also its greatest malice. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
But at this moment, Abigail realized that these malices were nothing compared to death.
She wanted to live, more than ever.
She had to live; Teddy needed her.
She had to live; she still hadn’t figured out the report in the lab regarding her death.
She had to live; life is short, and there were so many things left undone.
The light in her eyes grew more determined.
Boom!
Just before her brow was struck, the automatic door suddenly opened, and Abigail’s body, leaning against it, lost its support, crashing heavily to the ground.
Simultaneously, the bullet went through the open door and embedded itself in a tall body.
Bang!
The sound near Abigail’s ears suddenly returned like a flood, all rushing into her eardrums, making her head ache. But deep down, she felt a surge of relief. She was still alive.
She hadn’t died!
She bit her lip hard, tasting a sweet metallic tang, and opened her eyes to meet the gaze of the man in the wheelchair not far away. His eyes were fixed on her.
Abigail couldn’t tell if it was her imagination, but she thought she saw concern in his eyes.
She opened her mouth to speak, but found she couldn’t make a sound after the enormous panic just now.
Instead, she heard Pullan beside Brandon groan. Realizing something, Abigail quickly looked at Pullan and finally managed to speak in a dry, hoarse voice, “Pullan, you… you were shot?”
Did Pullan shield her just now?
But Pullan didn’t respond to her, only turning his head tensely after a grunt, “Second Young Master, are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” Brandon replied flatly, his eyes still fixed on Abigail, clearly displeased with her previous reaction.
Abigail then realized that Pullan didn’t shield her but Brandon. And yet, despite being shot, he was still concerned about Brandon?
“How are you?” Brandon’s amber eyes fell on Abigail, seeing her in an ill-fitting wedding dress, with disheveled hair and scratches marring her once perfectly symmetrical face, now looking ugly.
Abigail shook her head, “I’m fine. That person just now…”
As she spoke, she wanted to look for Gordon’s figure but found no sign of him. Instead, those bad girls were pinned to the ground by several security guards.
“I’ll have someone investigate. Come with me.” Brandon’s gaze fell on Abigail’s damp chest, his eyes darkening as he issued the irrefutable command.
Abigail, still shaken, instinctively got up. Glancing over at Pullan, she asked, “Are you… are you okay?”
She had seen that it wasn’t a toy gun earlier. Yet Pullan, aside from his previous grunt, seemed unaffected.
“Miss Abigail, don’t worry. I’m fine. It was really dangerous just now, if not for Second Young Master’s sharp eyes opening the automatic door, your life would’ve been in danger.” Pullan patted his bulletproof vest under his suit with relief.
Abigail then realized it was Brandon who had saved her.
As she was about to thank him, the man in the wheelchair suddenly threw his jacket at her with displeasure, “Wear it.”
Abigail didn’t understand. What had gotten into this man now?
