Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse

Chapter 143: Lu Hao's New Tactics

Chapter 143: Chapter 143: Lu Hao’s New Tactics

Dragon Leap Villa, on a deserted path, dozens of zombies were running in one direction. The doors of several villas along the road were automatically opened one by one, and the eagerly waiting zombies inside rushed out one after another.

Yao Yi, peering through a slit in the curtains, saw this scene and quickly pulled his head back, leaning against the wall and covering his mouth, not daring to breathe.

He didn’t know what was happening. He was awakened early this morning by howling outside, then saw zombies frantically running past his door. Fortunately, these zombies seemed to have a target, and none lingered at his door.

Even so, Yao Yi’s heart was already pounding with fear. He swallowed and tiptoed along the wall to the second floor. Although he was a coward, he wanted to figure out what was happening.

It couldn’t be that the family was in danger, no way, they all looked very healthy, surely nothing bad had happened to them.

Finally reaching the second floor, he opened a slit in the thick beige curtains and slowly looked outside.

In the direction of the villa area’s basketball court, suddenly there was a burst of fire. Since his view was blocked by the villa in front, he continued climbing two more floors, and finally from the rooftop of the fourth floor, he saw what was happening.

All he could see was zombies, one after another, running into the basketball court. They were gathered together, and the people from that family were sitting on the benches in front. The zombies appeared to be blocked by something, all trying hard to reach forward but none could break free.

On the bench, a little girl with twin ponytails, Mao Qiqi, was leaning on her arm, biting on a lollipop and watching the zombies with interest.

“My brother-in-law’s newly learned formation seems to be working. These zombies are all trapped!”

Nie Qing and Lu Guanhai among others were excitedly eating twisted dough sticks that Guo Yang had collected from a convenience store, watching from a bench. This apprentice of his was indeed talented. The method of setting up the Confinement Formation he had taught him was quickly and effectively applied.

Indeed, they had discovered new methods during these past two days while clearing out the villa’s zombies. Mao Zhihang, using his Metal Element Ability, opened a whole row of villa doors, and the others simply waited nearby in the basketball court. The zombies, drawn by the smell of humans, gradually gathered.

Captain Lu’s Confinement Formation was still rather small, but it was enough to amaze everyone. They had already experienced Nie Qing’s Stealth Formation before, and this was the first time they saw the Confinement Formation. Now there were already over a hundred zombies trapped in an invisible formation, unable to escape.

“Old man, why didn’t you use this formation before?” asked Lu Guanhai.

“You fool, setting up a formation needs to be done in advance. We run from zombies every day, how would we have the opportunity to set up beforehand?” And even if we could set up in advance, a fixed location is always necessary.

That explained everything, and everyone no longer puzzled over it. But when you think about it, using a formation to solve the zombie issue was virtually impossible. Even in ancient times, Zhuge Liang, the master of formations, couldn’t always guarantee victory.

By now, almost all the zombies had been lured over. Lu Hao held his Tang Sword, his eyebrows raised in a sharp arc, and he pointed his blade towards the group of zombies craving flesh.

Standing by and watching, Su Jin felt her heart pounding again. Yin Chengtian and Shi Jin, both hardcore fans, watched with admiration. Captain Lu’s modern tough-guy aura coupled with the antiquely decorative sword was undeniably cool.

Lu Hao charged his special ability onto the Tang Sword. The sword, shimmering in silver-white light, was instantly surrounded by dark flames, like a sword from the netherworld’s fire. Lu Hao curled one side of his mouth, his eyes sparkling with excitement as he swung the Tang Sword towards the zombies!

From behind the distant curtain, Yao Yi only felt that where the sword pointed appeared a dazzling red flash, and the once menacing zombie horde instantly fell by the dozens!

“Captain Lu, that move of yours was amazing!” Liao Yifan couldn’t help but stand up and applaud.

Lu Hao was also very satisfied. The combination of Special Ability Fire and the Tang Sword resulted in a far greater effect than using the Special Ability Fire alone. Most importantly, he could feel the eager gaze of his beloved wife.

“Maybe it looks cool this way?”

Lu Hao had a rare moment of vanity.

“There are a few more left, keep practicing,” Lu Hao sheathed his Tang Sword and led Su Jin to the rest area with his other hand.

Lu Hao had already dealt with most of the zombies, leaving around forty. Everyone cherished these as perfect subjects for practicing their Special Abilities. Besides fighting zombies daily, they had been developing new techniques. Now, with ample space and trapped zombies, the area was ideal for experimenting.

Just as Su Jin was about to take out the Venus Flytrap from the space to practice with Xiao Cui, Mao Qiqi informed them that someone was coming.

“How many people?” Su Jin asked.

“There are seven people,” Mao Qiqi answered.

Seven… Could they be survivors from nearby?

Upon hearing this, the group did not cease their Special Ability practice; such an opportune moment for practice was too good to be interrupted by a few arrivals.

Liang Jiuhui and his people from afar saw flames and lights above one corner of the villa, and they became alert. Could there be mutated zombies?

“I wonder if Su Jin and the others are alright,” Liang Jiuqing murmured.

“Head in that direction, speed up,” Liang Jiuhui instructed the driver, Xiao Liu.

Xiao Liu nodded, stepped on the gas pedal, and headed toward the bright area. However, they were puzzled on their way there—why were there so few zombies in this area?

Liang Jiuhui remembered that a month ago when their rescue team came here, the streets were swarming with zombies. Now, where had all those zombies gone?

The driver, Xiao Liu, quickly arrived at the entrance of Dragon Leap Villa; the gate had been evenly wrapped with several rounds of iron wire, which even from the outside could be untangled, suggesting it was meant to keep zombies out.

Liang Jiuhui felt a sense of fondness rise for Su Jin and his group. If they had locked the gates from inside for their safety, it would have been difficult for anyone to enter, but since they had only wrapped a few strands of iron wire, it meant they were only keeping zombies out.

After they drove through the gate, Liang Jiuhui made sure to rewrap the iron wire. They had brought two Special Ability Users with them this time: Guan Hong of the Metal Element, Xu Shi of the Fire Element, along with Liang Jiuhui himself of the Thunder Element—making three Special Ability Users in total.

Xiao Liu drove toward the place from where the lights had shone, and everyone inside the vehicle curiously observed the area, noticing that there were no zombies around?!n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Some doors of the houses were also wide open, and yet no zombies came out.

“Captain Liang, why are there no zombies here?” Guan Hong asked curiously.

“Perhaps, they’ve already been cleared out,”

Liang Jiuhui became increasingly interested in the two people his father had mentioned.
