Chapter 1286: End of the Line
Chapter 1286: End of the Line
"What?!"
At the very instant Valyr's response echoed throughout the space they were in, the grin on Darklight's face quickly disappeared, his expression returning back to the utter despair he felt just a few moments ago.
Allowing the aftereffects of his attack to subside, the man was soon able to see how much damage his strongest attack truly dealt to the young man that stood before him.
Just like the name of his skill implied, the massive dark bolt he conjured was able to pierce through Valyr's upper torso with superb ease, even going so far as to have its tip jut out from the young man's back.
However, that was all there was to it.
Whether it was the armor on his body, or the complexion on Valyr's skin, the only telltale sign of damage the young man received from his attack was none other than the hole left behind by the dark bolt after it disappeared.
Of course, the fact that Valyr took Darklight's strongest attack head-on also left SeventhShield and the others at a loss for words, stemming from the fact that reality turned out to be the exact opposite of what they thought would happen in their minds.
Then again, if one had no clue as to how strong Valyr truly was, one would immediately come to the conclusion that a Level 10 player like him would succumb to the strongest attack of a player near the peak of Rank 1.
And that was even if the former showed that he could unleash a level of strength far greater than what his level showed. After all, there were many possible avenues one could take in Greater Beyond to surmount such a gap.
Unfortunately, the same could not be said for one's defense.
"...I'm quite disappointed, honestly." As he asked Lycana to patch up the gaping wound on his upper torso, Valyr continued to direct killing intent towards Darklight as he looked at him with greater disdain than before.
"Did you really think that strength of yours is more than enough to have the others submit to you?"
"If you targeted any other party, then you might have been successful in your attempt," said Valyr as he answered his own question, his expression now a mix of both chilling calm and simmering anger.
"After all, owning a Legendary class gives you more than enough strength to trample over almost everyone."
Hearing the term 'Legendary class' escape Valyr's mouth, Darklight's face immediately paled in complexion, causing everyone else in the group to think that the dark-garbed man in front of them had been caught red-handed.
'How the hell does he know that?!'
Naturally, with the young man revealing what he considered to be his best-kept secret, the thoughts in Darklight's mind swiftly erupted into chaos as he tried to come up with answers on how Valyr came to know about it.
'I've already had other people try using [Analysis] on me beforehand, yet all they got were only question marks when it came to my class.'
'I even asked those with stronger versions of [Analysis] to take a look at my class, yet even they failed to see the fact that I have a Legendary class.'
'In that case, how the fuck does a Level 10 player know that I have one?!'
'Hahaha.' Seeing that Darklight was in turmoil after hearing his words, Valyr inwardly let out a slight cackle as he briefly glanced at Seventhshield and the others.
'I'm sure he's wondering how I found out he had a Legendary class. After all, finding that out would be impossible unless if one either had a higher level or a rarer class than him.'
'Unfortunately for him, I used to know a small group of friends who all decided to take the Dark Bow Lord class for the fun of it.'
Bang!
Knowing that he now had full control over the entire situation after that, Valyr went ahead and aimed a mana bolt at one of Darklight's arms, forcing the latter to stop his train of thought as he screamed out in pain.
"I never told you earlier what would happen if you failed to kill me, right?" Watching the man tightly clutch onto where his right arm previously was, Valyr conjured a small ball of energy with a calm expression as he took a few steps closer.
"Don't... come any closer..." murmured Darklight in response, the anger and indignance he felt over how the tables were turned against him having all but disappeared.
Instead, in its place was pure fear and terror towards the young man in front of him. At that moment, he wanted nothing more than to escape the utter hell walking towards him through any means possible.
Bang!
"Agh!"
However, rather than listen to the pleas that left the man's mouth, Valyr continued to move closer as he attacked once more, recalling the helplessness he felt from similar situations in the past while doing so.
"I... surrender..." As those memories combined with the emotions that arose due to the current situation, Valyr took a brief moment to calm himself down as he heard yet another plea from the man before him.
"I'll give everything to you... so please..."
"Everything?" asked Valyr back with a raised eyebrow. "Are you really willing to give me everything?"
"Yes...!" Feeling like he'd finally grasped an opportunity to leave the hell he was in, Darklight immediately became compliant as he removed all of the pieces of armor on his body.
After that, he placed all of the weapons he had on him on the ground, only to then rummage all of the other items he brought along for the dungeon out of his pockets.
"Is that all you have?" Inwardly whistling at the quality and quantity of items Darklight laid out in front of him, Valyr continued to look at the man with a serious expression. "That's... that's all." Darklight nodded after some time, inwardly hoping that all of the items he had on him would allow the young man in front of him to show mercy.
As long as that happened, he'd swear that he'd make the young man in front of him rue the day he antagonized him.
Not only would he make his time in Greater Beyond a living hell, he'd even go so far to find Valyr's identity out in real life and continuously beat the ever living shit out of him. "Alright." Fortunately for him, Valyr seemed to be satisfied with the items he showed him, prompting Darklight to think that it was only a matter of time until he was finally free.
"I'll let you go..." said the young man soon after. "But only if you give me the next thing I'll be asking from you."
"What... would that be?" asked Darklight in response, continuing to remain subservient in front of the young man.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"Quite simple, actually." Valyr let out a chuckle as he conjured one last mana bolt.
"Your life."
Bang!
Combining the effects of the staff, the mana circuit, and the incantation, the young man aimed directly at one of Darklight's vital spots, instantly dealing more than enough damage to render the man in front of him dead.
However, whether it was sheer tenacity or the immense anger he felt towards Valyr going back on his words, Darklight's consciousness still remained for a few more seconds as he gave
the young man a deathly glare.
"You'll regret this, Ataraxia...!"
"You'll regret messing... with the Lightless...!"
...
