Chapter 397 Shane's Transaction
Seeing his sword being taken away from his hand, Claude stepped back, breathing heavily but smiling. "You're as strong as I suspected. You've won the duel."
Although he was exhausted just now, he still had enough Aura to ensure that his sword wouldn't get taken away from his hands. As a matter of fact, even if he got trampled by a Juggernaut Zombie, there was no way for him to unhand his precious weapon.
However, the fact that Shane was able to do it means that his Aura was a lot stronger than he had expected. Shane may have used his Aura in a very simple way, unlike his sophisticated method, but it was still a very solid method.
Shane nodded as he lowered his Club. "You fought well."
In terms of Aura and Sword Techniques, he could tell that Knight Claude had a very deep foundation. It was only his brute force and speed that allowed him to win against the man.
Claude then retrieved his sword and sheathed it.
"As promised, here's the map." Claude then handed Shane a rolled-up parchment. "This will guide you through the safest routes to Sector 20. Thank you for the duel. Your strength will be remembered here. But I still wish to ask you and meet the Lord of this shelter."
Shane then accepted the map as he felt a sense of accomplishment. "Thank you, Claude. I'll make good use of this. As for Lord Han Zhuo's request… I don't mind meeting up with him."
"That's great! You can follow me to his office." Knight Claude said.
Shane nodded as he kept his map in his Inventory and followed Knight Claude. He didn't mind communicating or having deals with these people since they were neutral shelters and wouldn't really harm him.
It would also be better to assist these shelters for the sake of other Survivors, especially the members of his Clan.
After all, he knew that the other Survivors like Raze wouldn't just stay put in the safety of the shelter. Once they had gotten a lot stronger, they would soon explore the world, finding the cure to the Zombie Virus, or finding more ruins left by the previous government who had created Project Z.
Anyway, Claude escorted him through the main building as they navigated the bustling marketplace until they reached a large, imposing building.
It seemed to be the previous armory of the prison…
Soon, Claude led Shane up a flight of stairs and down a long hallway. Then, they stopped in front of a heavy wooden door.
Claude knocked, and a deep voice from within called out, "Enter."
Claude opened the door and gestured for Shane to follow.
As Shane stepped inside, he took in the sight of Lord Han Zhuo's office. The room was spacious, with high ceilings and walls lined with bookshelves filled with various items. A large wooden desk sat in the center, cluttered with papers and maps.
Behind the desk stood Lord Han Zhuo.
Lord Han Zhuo had a shorter figure compared to Claude but he certainly had commanding presence befitting a Lord of the Shelter.
His long black hair was also tied back in a neat ponytail, and his sharp, piercing eyes seemed to take in everything at once. He wore a dark, intricately embroidered robe that spoke of both authority and practicality.
"Welcome, Sir Shane," Han Zhuo said politely to the person who had defeated his Knight in the duel.
Of course, there was no way he would miss such a piece of important information. He had several people working for him, after all.
Shane nodded respectfully. "Thank you for seeing me, Lord Han Zhuo."
Han Zhuo gestured to a chair in front of his desk. "Please, have a seat."
Shane sat down, feeling the weight of Han Zhuo's gaze upon him. Shane could confirm that Han Zhuo was the one who ordered Claude to test his strength.
Seeing that Shane got seated, Han Zhuo continued. "May I ask what your level is?"
The question came out of nowhere.
Shane hesitated for a moment, then decided to be partially honest. "I'm above Level 30," he said, not revealing his exact level of 37.
Han Zhuo nodded, seemingly satisfied with the answer. He thought that Shane would ask for something to give an answer.
"I appreciate your honesty… I do not wish to take too much of your time, so we'll immediately get into business." Han Zhuo said as he looked at Shane. After seeing that he was listening intently and seriously, he continued.
"We have a significant problem here, Shane. Our shelter is frequently attacked by Winged Zombies. To be exact, we're expecting a huge attack from them very soon. These Wing Zombies are a bit special… They can fly up to 15 meters high and are particularly dangerous at night when they are well-hidden.
If it was your first time hearing about them, they also have human-like figures but with bat-like wings."
Han Zhuo said as he saw Shane looking surprised.
Well, Shane felt a bit surprised since it was his first time hearing about the Winged Zombies. He initially thought that only Zombie Vultures or other birds could become their flying enemies.
"Winged Zombies… Can you tell me more about them." Shane asked.
Han Zhuo nodded and described the situation.
"We lack an effective method to deal with them, especially during the night. Our torches and other light sources are insufficient. We're trying to create weapons that could reach them in the sky but it will take quite some time. After all, we can't hasten the creation of such dangerous weapons.
If our grenades didn't explode in time or were caught and thrown back to us, we would be the ones in danger."
There were plenty more things that could go wrong when developing new weapons, so Shane could understand it.
These guys don't have anti-air weapons at all. However, since they still have crossbows and even firearms, Shane believed that their main concern was indeed their vision during the night.
'There's a solution for that…'
"Let me see if I can help you…" Shane muttered as he accessed the System's Marketplace through his interface.
He quickly found that other Survivors were selling Light Orbs for varying prices, ranging from 20 to 30 Zombie Cores.
[ Seller: Hidden PatrolNôv(el)B\\jnn
Item: Light Orb x41
Description: A luminous orb that emits a steady, soft light.
Price: 23 Zombie Cores per piece ]
[ Seller: Nine Seer
Item: Light Orb x22
Description: A luminous orb that emits a steady, soft light.
Price: 29 Zombie Cores per piece ]
[ Seller: Arcane Archer
Item: Light Orb x17
Description: A luminous orb that emits a steady, soft light.
Price: 21 Zombie Cores per piece ]
These three, Hidden Patrol, Nine Seer, and Arcane Archer, were the ones selling the most Light Orbs. The prices vary quite a lot even though they were selling the same thing, probably because of their dire need for Zombie Cores. Looking at it, perhaps Nine Seer doesn't really care whether it was sold or not…
Anyway, as Shane scrolled through Marketplace, he even discovered something a bit special.
[ Seller: Fury Singer
Item: Light Blue Orb x12
Description: It's denser and contains a higher concentration of energy than the standard Light Orb
Price: 40 Zombie Cores per piece ]
There were actually Light Blue Orbs being sold...
After some consideration, he decided to just sell these Light Orbs to Lord Han Zhuo. Of course, he would have to increase or standardize his price in order to profit.
"I might have a solution," Shane said. "I can provide you with Light Orbs."
Before they could ask, Shane took out one Light Orb from his Inventory. He actually only has three of them, so he really had to get the others in the Market place.
As soon as the Light Orb appeared, Claude and Han Zhuo realized its value. The light it was giving off was gentle and wasn't glaring at all.
It was surely perfect!
"Incredible… How long can it last?"
"They naturally recharge themselves whenever they get sunlight. However, they weren't too durable, so you had to protect them. They can still be destroyed if some stray bullets or skills hit them…" Shane explained.
"That's understandable. How many Light Orbs like this can you produce?" Lord Han Zhuo asked.
"I can sell you 50 of them to you for 50 Zombie Cores each." Shane said after some thought.
Han Zhuo frowned slightly. He realized that it was 2,500 Zombie Cores.
"50 Zombie Cores is quite expensive. We have limited resources… How about paying half of them with Zombie Cores, and the other half would be paid for some of our items? They can be our explosives and other materials that might interest you."
Shane smiled as he realized this.
He immediately calculated, and if he purchased 17 of Arcane Archer's Light Orb, it would only cost him 357 Zombie Cores.
Then, another 33 would be purchased from Hidden Patrol, which would be 759 Zombie Cores.
In total, he would only have to pay 1,116 Zombie Cores, and he would get paid 1,250 Zombie Cores in addition to various weapons or items that would be worth 1,250 Zombie Cores!
