Chapter 391 The Specialty of the Shelter
Lord Han Zhuo sighed as he recalled the existence of those mutated zombies who could fly. Their shelter had only been attacked once, but he knew that it wasn't the end of it. Last week, their Neutral Shelter successfully fended off the attack of twenty Winged Zombies.
These Zombies had bat-like wings and were capable of flying up to 15 meters above ground. It wasn't too high, but it was more than enough to pass through their walls.
It wasn't too difficult fending them off during the day since they could easily see them, but during the night, their torches and other source of light weren't just enough.
Lord Han Zhuo was hoping that they could obtain another source of light that could give them brighter surroundings. However, this new source of light shouldn't be too bright, which could also affect their vision.
After all, when they tried making more bonfires at that time, it actually did
'I thought this location was great… I didn't expect that we'd have such a problem after being able to develop here for several months.' Lord Hand Zhuo sighed as he considered how to deal with this problem.
After all, he knew very well that those Winged Zombies that had attacked them were merely scouts. One of their scouting team members was able to find their Den, which was located about two days away from their location, if they traveled on foot.
However, it would only be merely 8 hours away or even less than that if the Winged Zombies decided to attack them… After all, they could easily ignore the terrible terrain and pass through mountains and ridges with ease.
Lord Han Zhuo pondered the need to create more weapons to combat the Winged Zombies in the sky. However, his resources were limited.
Unlike the Ivory Gear Shelter, which boasted impressive mechanical technology, the Long Lodge Shelter specialized in making various explosives like dynamite and grenades.
It hadn't even been developed into something even more advanced.
Now, he had to really consider developing a new weapon to fight the flying zombies using these resources. However, even if he started gathering his craftsmen now, it would still take a lot of time to accomplish such a heavy task.
It wasn't easy to create anti-air weapons after all.
Furthermore, if he took away several craftsmen, the creation of various weapons in the shelter would definitely slow down or even put to a halt.
"Sir Jiang…" Han Zhuo called to the elder in the other room. This elder was his advisor and would normally just assist him with the inventory of their resources.
"Yes, my lord?" Jiang responded, stepping forward.
"I'm thinking of developing a new weapon to combat the Winged Zombies. Our explosives are effective, but we need something that can target them in the air, especially during the night. Any ideas?"
Sir Jiang thought for a moment. To be honest, he had also been thinking about this.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
After all, even if they wanted to attack the base of the Winged Zombies with their huge number, it would be a massive disaster if these Winged Zombies decided to attack their shelter while they were on their way.
It would mean that they would lack people or even weapons to fight them off. Because of that, they could only think of a way to defend their shelter.
"We could modify our grenades to create aerial mines. If we can rig them to detonate at a certain altitude, it might be effective against the flying zombies. However, the problem with the darkness still exists…"
Han Zhuo nodded, considering the suggestion.
"We can resolve the problem with the light later… But that could work. We'll need to experiment and see if we can make it reliable. Gather the craftsmen and engineers and start working on prototypes immediately."
"Understood, my lord," Sir Jiang said, bowing slightly before leaving to carry out the orders.
As Sir Jiang left, Han Zhuo returned to his thoughts. He still had to resolve the problem with the darkness during the night.

In the meantime, Shane decided to leave his room and explore the marketplace of the Long Lodge Shelter after receiving the Talent Expansion Scroll from Nia.
As he stepped out into the bustling streets, he was greeted by the sight of various stalls and shops lining the pathways.
The surroundings were filled with the sounds of haggling, and not too far from him, there was also a rich aroma of freshly baked goods.
'The smelled good…' Shane thought to himself. Although the bread dropped by Zombies wasn't bad, they weren't tasty at all. It was just edible. However, the aroma of the freshly baked bread and other goods was definitely more than just edible.
Nonetheless, Shane wasn't in a hurry as he first wandered into a section where combat gear was prominently displayed.

He was curious if he'd find useful items here.
'Let's see…' Shane muttered as he looked around.
There were racks of sturdy clothes designed for battle, with reinforced stitching and pockets for carrying weapons and supplies. However, the SWAT Uniform or even his Explorer Set was a lot better than this.
He could tell from the clothes being sold that comfort was clearly their secondary concern, as most of the garments were made from rough, durable materials meant to withstand the harsh conditions outside the shelter.
He couldn't blame them for this decision.
Moving on, Shane saw the stores selling pastries and various foods. The scent of freshly baked bread and sweet pastries was irresistible, and he couldn't help but buy a few to snack on as he continued his exploration.
He decided not to buy for the others as he knew that they would notice this store as well once they explored the shelter…
Anyway, there were also stalls offering a variety of preserved foods, essential for long journeys or times when fresh supplies were scarce.
Next, he came across a pharmacy and several alchemist stores.
'Alchemy… Maybe I can find something here…' Shane thought.
