Chapter 769  Ulrik

Chapter 769  Ulrik

Sylas barely saw the notification before he was whisked away. When he appeared again, he was assaulted by beaming rays of sunlight reflecting off tall city walls coated in a thick metallic lacquer.
The shine was so blinding that it took several more seconds before Sylas finally adjusted and realized that he wasn't quite standing before a gate, but rather in a special region under it.
A line far longer than Sylas would have expected for a place so difficult to enter extended to near infinity. At the very least, he couldn't see the end of it all.
It was no wonder Tongue'Head hadn't even bothered to bring him here. If he had to enter through normal means, just waiting in the line alone would have used up all his time.
Sylas shook his head and looked before him, only to find a woman with a single horn curving from her forehead bowing deep and low to him. Even after several seconds, she showed no signs of rising from her head being perfectly parallel to the ground. If not for the size of her horn, Sylas wouldn't have been able to see it at all.
Realizing what was happening, Sylas spoke.
"Are you here for me?"
"Yes, young elite. I am here to replace your guide, should you choose to do so. Familiars are limited in their range and understanding."
Sylas fell into silence, looking toward Tongue'Head and back to the woman.
"Both of you can follow me."
There was a slight shift to the woman's Will, but she agreed right away.
"Of course, sir."
"You may rise as well."
Finally, the woman stood to her full height. In the end, she was even taller than Sylas. She was conventionally beautiful, but had particularly strong shoulders that were quite discernible with the exposed sleeves of her dress.
That and she had what could only be described as cute, adorable little tusks coming from her lips.
"Please follow me into the VIP passageway."
Sylas nodded and obliged, following after the tall, somewhat muscular woman.
As for why he insisted both follow him, it was quite simple. Familiars had their flaws and their thinking didn't have much plasticity, but what they were was honest.
The very real woman might be more nimble with her thoughts, but because of that… she would also be capable of misleading, lying, and misdirecting.
Although Sylas was quite confident in seeing through such things here, he didn't have the time to overturn all stones. He was on a time crunch.
He had to quickly find what places here were valuable and take advantage of them before his timer ran out.
"That bitch…"
"How'd she get there so fast?"
"Just look at her body. She's stronger than all of us. Damned, half-breed beast mut…"
Sylas picked up chatter as they entered a hall that was hidden within the city wall. That didn't seem like a very efficient use of defenses to him, but who was he to question things? For all he knew, no one even dared to attack this region.
"You may call me by any name you so desire, young elite," the woman spoke, clearly ignoring the words in the surroundings as well. "My name is Vonexa, but anything works."
Sylas raised an internal eyebrow. The fact she had told him her name after saying he could call her anything seemed to make clear that she preferred he did call her by her name.
But he didn't say anything about it.
"Bring me to a Beast Master region as quickly as possible."
"Right away, young elite. The cost of teleportation is waived for those of your stature."
The trio stepped into a teleportation portal and vanished, leaving the curses of the other women who were still waiting around for their own big break.
Suddenly, one of them stood and rushed for the door. She was a dainty woman, dressed in the same tight robes as all the others. She couldn't have even been five feet tall. At best, she was an inch or two away.
The others immediately cursed when they saw her movement, but it was already too late. Although some of them had the inclination to fight, they knew better than to do so.
They could get away with some stinging words, but fighting would bring down a punishment none of them could afford to suffer.
A light of excitement bloomed in the dainty woman's eyes as she hurriedly bowed much like Vonexa had.
"Greetings, young elite! I am Eliza! At your service in any way you so please!"
A silence fell over the hall. Even those young women who had been ready to say some scalding words swallowed them right back up. In the face of this young man, they didn't dare to say a single word.
He wore robes as black as night, a pair of horns curving from his forehead and toward the back of his head—they fit into his hairstyle perfectly as though they were an ornament rather than a piece of his body.
However, what they felt the most intimately was the wrinkle on his forehead.
The Race who stood unopposed in the Skai Galaxy.
The Thryskai.

"Lead me to the Rune Master hub," Ulrik said lightly.
The voice made Eliza tremble as though she recognized it. She paled, feeling that for once, maybe she had actually moved too quickly.
"Right away, young elite!"
She turned away and rushed forward.
Ulrik seemed to follow slowly, but Runes bloomed in his path, shifting him forward as though he was walking along an autowalk at the airport. It was so smooth and seamless, yet it made the minds of those observing it quack.
The ease with which he was using Runes… just how powerful had he grown?
If Sylas had been here, he would have surely recognized the name. That was because he had seen it before.
