First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1851 - Why Not Run?

Boom!

A grand battle broke out. Su Yi leaped through the air, swung his sword, and attacked.

But in the blink of an eye, he was sent flying back.

The gap in strength was just too enormous. Both Gu Yunchan and Qing Wu were divine children. The former was one of the Ten Great Yao Sovereigns of the God Domain, while the latter was just one step away from achieving divinity. All she needed was the right opportunity.

Now, the two of them had joined forces. It was easy to imagine how terrifying they were. Not even those old-timers of the Great Profound Stage would have been able to take them on, let alone an Immortal King!

Whoosh!

They gave Su Yi no chance to catch his breath. Qing Wu leaped through the air, striking like lightning with tyrannical force, her attacks like a fierce, pelting rain. Every strike was full of the unparalleled divine majesty of the Great Profound Stage.

Su Yi in no way dared to hold back. He poured everything he had into his attacks.

Still, the disparity was obvious. If not for using the Tree of All Worlds to dodge in time, he’d have fallen to their terrifying offensive a long time ago.

Every time Su Yi tried to hide his presence and shift through space, Gu Yunchan effortlessly stopped him. He controlled the power of the divine restriction, and its power blanketed heaven and earth like rain. No matter where Su Yi hid, he was quickly forced out into the open.

Their pincer attack put Su Yi at a complete disadvantage.

“Without Xi Ning, this is all you amount to,” laughed Qing Wu. She was a charming beauty, but her attacks were fierce, and the Ninebend Divine River Chain danced madly through the air like a dragon made of fire, erupting with terrifying, explosive power.

Su Yi couldn’t help but jeer. “You’re so proud of yourself even though I’m just an Immortal King. You really are useless.”

He was in a wretched state, and his situation was dire, but he fought with ever-greater variance. He drew upon the full extent of his attainments in the Dao of the Sword, combined with the Tree of All World’s power over space. Every time he faced a potentially lethal strike, he managed to dodge by a hair.

Qing Wu snorted coldly, feeling ashamed of herself. He was right: She was a mighty divine daughter, yet she was struggling to take down a single Immortal King. If word got out, she’d only lose face.

“You’re no ordinary Immortal King,” Gu Yunchan said slowly. “In two of your past lives, you had the strength to threaten the gods, and now, you’ve mastered the power of reincarnation. You can even fight Great Profound Stage experts. Even in the God Domain, what other Immortal King could compare with you?”

He seemed to know a lot about Su Yi—including two of his past lives!

Su Yi was instantly solemn.

“Die!” Qing Wu descended from the heavens and attacked, breaking Su Yi’s offensive.

Su Yi dodged immediately, but he was nonetheless injured. Qing Wu’s fiery chains tore open his left shoulder, practically snapping the bones.

Qing Wu didn’t let up, either. Her wrist shifted, and the Ninebend Divine River Chain swooped in like an enraged dragon, slamming into the already injured Su Yi. There was no need to even think to know that if Su Yi failed to block this attack, he’d lose.

At this critical juncture, Su Yi drew upon the Sword of the Nine Hells without hesitation.

The humming of a sword swept out like the tides, sweeping through the sky.

Tyrannical sword force blocked the fiery Ninebend Divine River Chain, leaving Qing Wu’s wrists in agony. She staggered back on her feet.

Su Yi seized the opportunity to break free, shot ahead in a flash, and reappeared in the distance.

Qing Wu couldn’t help but exclaim, “He still has trump cards?”

“Be careful. Don’t let him turn this around. He controls the power of reincarnation, and he has all kinds of tricks up his sleeves. In his past life, you and I wouldn’t have even been worthy of becoming his enemies,” warned Gu Yunchan.

He’d been holding up the rear thus far, using the restriction’s power to support Qing Wu. He too was stunned by Su Yi’s sudden burst of power.

Qing Wu pursed her lips, her eyes surging with fierce light as she struck once more. Her aura rumbled and boomed, and her momentum was increasingly terrifying.

But instead of tangling with them any further, Su Yi turned and shot deeper into the Magnetic Ice Zone.

“Hurry up and stop him!” shrieked Qing Wu.

But there was no need for the reminder. Gu Yunchan was already attacking.

Boom!

The insurmountable wall manifested of the restriction rose to block Su Yi’s path, sealing off the way ahead.

But this time, Su Yi didn’t flee. Instead, he charged directly into the fray. His cultivation base rumbled and boomed, practically boiling, as he put everything he had into this attack.

This strike didn’t just contain the aura of the Sword of the Nine Hells. He drew upon the Tree of All Worlds’ Breaking Barriers, too!

Kacha!

When this slash landed, it created a tear in the restriction. Practically simultaneously, Su Yi slipped through the opening and deeper into the Magnetic Origin Ice Sea.

“This…” Qing Wu’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Gu Yunchan’s pupils constricted, and his heart shook. The Thousand Currents Heaven-Sealing Formation was full of the incomparably wondrous power of a god. Even a divine son like him would have struggled to escape once trapped.

Yet Su Yi had done it!

“No, something’s not right here. If he were capable of that, why not flee the Magnetic Ice Zone entirely?” Gu Yunchan frowned.

But there was no time to give the matter any further thought. Gu Yunchan and Qing Wu shot after Su Yi without any further thought. “Get him!”

As for the Thousand Currents Heaven-Sealing Restriction covering the periphery of the Magnetic Origin Ice Sea? Gu Yunchan left it in place.

No matter how powerful the restriction was, it could only cover so much. It could block off all routes out of the Magnetic Origin Ice Sea, but it couldn’t seal the place completely.

Boom!

Deeper in the Magnetic Origin Ice Sea, that massive black pillar towered into the firmament, its Magnetic Origin Winds collapsing the sky around it.

Su Yi’s footsteps came to an abrupt halt. He hovered in midair.

Any further, and the pillar’s power一an incomparable power of the natural power一was certain to attack him!

“Why not flee?” Qing Wu’s charming laughter emanated from behind Su Yi.

“When your situation is advantageous, it seems as though heaven and earth themselves are on your side, but when fortune departs, even a hero struggles to retain their freedom," Gu Yunchan said leisurely. “In the ruins of the Dragon Palace, you had Xi Ning’s protection, so you could jump around as you pleased, but now that she’s no longer here, it seems… you’re not much on your own.”

Mentioning the Dragon Palace brought Qing Wu’s old grudges back to the surface, and her smile disappeared. She gnashed her teeth and said, “Back then, the threat of the Laws of heaven and earth prevented me from displaying my full power, leading to that massive setback, but things are different now!”

Su Yi turned to look at the two incomparably powerful foes pursuing him. He said flatly, “You’re wrong. I’ve always disdained entrusting my life to another.”

“Hah? Still talking tough, huh?” Qing Wu said coldly as she drew closer.

Su Yi laughed. “Talking tough? No. Here’s what I’m thinking: the Magnetic Origin Light can threaten my life, but surely it can threaten yours as well?”

The pupils of Qing Wu’s beautiful eyes constricted.

Boom!

Su Yi flashed through the air, shooting toward the towering black pillar of light in the distance.

“Has he gone insane!?” Qing Wu’s expression darkened.

“He’s risking it all for a shot at survival,” Gu Yunchan said darkly. “Don’t do anything reckless. Let’s see how long he can hold out against the Magnetic Origin Light.”

Qing Wu felt stifled, but she could only nod.

From the moment the battle began, Su Yi had been as slippery as an eel. Every time they thought they had him, he slipped out of their grasp.

How could Qing Wu not be angry?

Gu Yunchan simply shrugged, confident and composed. “Relax. No matter how crafty our prey may be, there’s no escape.”

Kaboom!

Off in the distance, Su Yi had only just drawn near the pillar when a terrifying onslaught of Magnetic Origin Light assailed him. Explosive light swept through the air, seemingly intent on ripping Su Yi to shreds.

But at this critical juncture, Su Yi took out a book and poured his full strength into it.

Boom!

Bright red karmic power surged into the air like chaos mists, neutralizing the Magnetic Origin Light.

The book opened to a blank page, and an infuriated line of text appeared. “Fuck! You’re using me as a shield? Shameless!”

Su Yi disregarded its complaints, held the Book of Karma, and stood amidst the Magnetic Origin Light-filled landscape entirely unharmed.

“Dare you fight me here?” Su Yi turned and faced his enemies with a smile.

Qing Wu’s expression darkened, and her gaze filled with envy. “Just as I thought! The Book of Karma really did fall into your hands!”

Gu Yunchan’s eyes glinted, and he stared intently at the Book of Karma. “This is for the best. One of my goals in coming to the Immortal Realm was finding that treasure for my master.”

His gaze was heated, and his eyes shone with blatant, undisguised greed.

The Book of Karma wasn’t just useful for his master. Nothing could have been more useful in his effort to become a god in his own right!

“I can see you’re at the end of your rope, and you have little left up your sleeves. It’s time… that this battle ended,” whispered Gu Yunchan. “Qing Wu, go ahead and use your divine treasure. Let’s kill him together.”

“Got it!” Qing Wu took a deep breath, put away the Ninebend Divine River Chain, and slipped a glittering silver knife shaped like a crescent moon out of her sleeves.

Boom!

The edge glinted like snow, stinging the eyes with its divine radiance. It was indistinct, but the inscrutable, tyrannical power of the Divine Dao surged within the blade like moonlight. Its divine majesty made the surrounding area tremble, and the very sky itself let out a mournful wail.

The Crescent Moon Blade—an Epoch Treasure!

Knife in hand, Qing Wu leaped up and shot at the distant Su Yi.

Terrifying Magnetic Origin Light shot at her, but when Qing Wu swung her weapon, it broke without so much as scratching her.

In the blink of an eye, she’d broken through the light’s attempts to impede her. She was just one hundred feet away from Su Yi!

“Die!” Qing Wu swung her knife. It was as if a radiant crescent moon were falling from the heavens, collapsing the firmament and tearing open the sky.

Its terrifying divine majesty was mighty beyond belief.

Su Yi didn’t clash with it head-on. Instead, he turned and shot toward the Magnetic Origin Light Pillar.

Kaboom!!

As he drew closer, a tidal wave of Magnetic Origin Light swept toward him, trying to snuff him out.

Bang bang bang!

The Book of Karma blocked it all, but it shook violently, and an endless stream of foul curses appeared on its pages.

Su Yi disregarded them completely. How could he possibly concern himself with the Book of Karma’s feelings at a time like this?

When her strike hit nothing but air, Qing Wu gnashed her teeth and gave chase. Magnetic Origin Light relentlessly assailed her. If not for the Crescent Moon Blade blocking them, she wouldn’t have been able to take it.

Before long, Su Yi couldn’t advance any further. He had no choice but to stop in place.

The Magnetic Origin Light was like a waterfall pouring down from the nine heavens, blanketing heaven and earth. Even though the Book of Karma blocked its relentless onslaught, every step forward was a struggle for Su Yi, and he was under immense pressure.

But it was much the same for Qing Wu.

When she saw that Su Yi wasn’t advancing any further in, her beautiful eyes filled with dense murderous intent. She laughed, “Why not flee?”

Su Yi turned and grinned at her. “Because here is plenty far in to kill you.”
