Chapter 153 confrontation
After the rogue and small sect cultivators entered the ruin, the ancient sects and immortal clans began entering as well. Continue your adventure at empire
Everyone made their entrance with a majestic demeanor. Kai watched them all with cold eyes. However, killing everyone he saw wasn't the right way to proceed—it could easily lead to the other ancient and immortal clans turning against the Chen Clan.
But those from the small sects… With a grin, Mu Chen and Kai disappeared.

Inside the Ruin
Opening his eyes, Kai was hit by a wave of dizziness that subsided shortly after. Near him was Mu Chen, who appeared to experience the same effect.
The first thing they both noticed was the intense concentration of immortal qi. It was overwhelming and had already condensed into a mist.
"Cultivating here for an hour is like cultivating for multiple days in the best blessed land. It really is the ruin of an Immortal Emperor," Mu Chen said with a smile.
"Stop smiling, dimwit. There's no girl to impress here," Kai said with a chuckle.
"You… Knock—"
"Ouch!"
Kai held his head and glared at Mu Chen, who was smiling triumphantly.
"Just saying the truth. Besides, who's more handsome?" Kai grunted.
"Oh, you want another knock?" Mu Chen asked.
"Brother, I'm just joking. I'm just joking," Kai laughed it off.
Looking at their surroundings, they saw towering trees that seemed to stretch to the heavens, mysterious grasses swaying left and right, and they could hear the sounds of insects and animals moving all around.
"Ready?" Mu Chen asked with a smile. For him, he didn't need to actually kill anyone to cultivate, but he still did it anyway.
"Listen, brother. Just stay back and cultivate. I'll find you through that mark. Let me handle the hunting. I'll be back in 12 hours, then we'll search for equipment and everything else."
"Idiot! We can only stay here for three days, yet you want to—" Mu Chen gritted his teeth in anger.
"Brother, trust me. We'll find good treasures. And stop opening and closing your mouth like that—you look like a rabbit sniffing around," Kai said before disappearing.
"You…" Mu Chen chuckled slightly.
"Idiot brother, just be safe," Mu Chen said aloud as he moved forward. He was at the entrance of the immortal ruin. Since they couldn't leave until three days later, he decided to find a place to cultivate.
He wanted to be ready to break through to the Immortal God Realm after this ruin. His goal was to obtain cultivation treasures, resources, and, most importantly, the Immortal Emperor techniques.
But those weren't theirs to claim—yet.

Kai moved swiftly through the forest, encountering some immortal beasts along the way. None of them were particularly strong, so he dealt with them easily. Finally, he spotted his first prey.
It was a lone cultivator with Stage 3 Immortal Realm cultivation. From his attire, Kai could tell he belonged to a small sect.
"You're the lucky winner," Kai said and moved toward him.
Meanwhile, Li Hai had separated from his group to collect a particular grass. The old man in his consciousness had told him about it.
"Brat, watch out!" the old man in the ring warned as Li Hai bent down to pick the grass and placed it into his spatial ring.
Boom!
The ground where he had been standing collapsed inward, forming a massive ditch that spanned several thousand meters.
"You!" Li Hai exclaimed in shock, his expression filled with dread.
"Missed… For someone just in Stage 3 of the Immortal Realm, you're quite fast," Kai said as Li Hai struggled to steady his breathing.
At first, Li Hai thought it was an immortal beast attacking him, and he managed to dodge just in time. But soon he realized it wasn't something he could avoid entirely, forcing him to use one of his trump cards.
"Why did you attack me? I have nothing valuable on me," Li Hai asked, confused.
"Oh, but you do—your life," Kai said with a grin.
"Brat, he's probably a demonic cultivator," the old man warned.
"You're a member of the immortal clans and a demonic cultivator? Why?" Li Hai asked calmly, trying to buy time. Su Bal and the others were close by and would likely rush over to investigate the commotion.
"Well, it's more fun to be a demonic cultivator. Killing is enjoyable, and I'm not hiding it. But you… You're trying to buy time," Kai suddenly said, appearing right in front of Li Hai.
Li Hai's eyes widened in horror. In the Immortal Realm, both demonic and righteous cultivators existed. Demonic cultivators gained strength by killing constantly, meditating only during breakthroughs. Righteous cultivators, on the other hand, cultivated and meditated consistently.
Both paths were accepted but represented opposing factions.
"Brat, we have to fight. They won't get here in time," the old man advised.
"Yeah, I'll have to use that," Li Hai thought.
Boom!
A shockwave erupted, accompanied by a gale that uprooted trees for dozens of kilometers around.

Why was the power they displayed so weak? It was because the Immortal Realm was far stronger than the Mortal Realm. The damage that could be absorbed here was far greater, and the vastness of the realm made their destructive power seem less significant.
Kai grinned as he watched the boy struggle to defend against his attack.
"He's so strong," Li Hai thought.
"He is. Use the Dragon King bloodline," the old man said.
"Yes," Li Hai replied, taking a deep breath.
A necklace around his neck shattered, forming a shield that protected him from Kai's terrifying attack.
Li Hai's cultivation realm began to rise rapidly—Stage 5, Stage 6—until it reached Stage 7.
"Interesting," Kai said calmly, observing the transformation.
Li Hai's body was now covered in golden scales, his hair had grown longer, and his eyes gleamed gold.
"What's this?" Kai asked with a smile.
"Hehe, the Golden Dragon King bloodline," Li Hai thought
" ".... Li hai chose not to say anything as Kai grinned.
"Your boost in cultivation is impressive, but it's still too weak," Kai said as he attacked again. This time, a massive black claw materialized and smashed down at Li Hai.
Boom!
***********
The dust cleared, revealing Li Hai on one knee, a sword in hand, defending against Kai. The giant black hand Kai had summoned was gone, and now, only his physical hand pressed against the sword.
"Li Hai!" Su Bal called out urgently. Li Hai managed a faint smile, but inwardly, he was shaken. Just one attack, and his trump card had nearly failed him. Realizing he couldn't sustain the Dragon King bloodline any longer, he reverted to his normal form.
Kai retracted his hand, and Li Hai hastily retreated.
Su Bal regarded Kai with a grave expression. "It's him... the legendary Demon Emperor himself," Su Bal thought with growing dread. In his previous life, Kai had been the one who nearly annihilated the entire Immortal Realm singlehandedly.
The tales of Kai's wrath spread far and wide, recounting how Su Bal and others had joined forces to stand against him. Back then, Kai had slaughtered the older generation, leaving only a few younger cultivators to face him. Li Hai had been their leader, a terrifying Immortal Sovereign Realm cultivator who dueled Kai for years while their remaining allies perished miserably.
Who won that battle? Su Bal didn't know—he had died before the end. But in this life, he vowed to avoid such a fate.
Clenching his fists, Su Bal recalled the events. He had always prepared his group carefully, knowing that in his past life, Kai had attacked Li Hai at the beginning of the ruin, nearly killing him. Li Hai had been saved by a girl from the Nine-Tailed Divine Clan, Foxytail.
Li Hai had then helped her grow rapidly, and by the climactic battle, she had reached the Immortal Sovereign Realm. Meanwhile, Su Bal had been a mere Immortal God King, a dispensable pawn. This time, it's different, Su Bal thought with determination. Now, instead of Foxytail, I saved him. This is my chance to rise to the Immortal Sovereign Realm.
"Li Hai truly is a son of destiny," Su Bal muttered to himself.
Kai's cold voice interrupted his thoughts. "Who are you, and why are you meddling in my business?" he asked, his tone sharp and hostile. His gaze shifted to the crest of the Immortal Clan on Su Bal's robes. Kai could tell Su Bal and his group hailed from the Immortal Clan, but he couldn't fathom why they'd concern themselves with a weak small-sect cultivator like Li Hai.
"Su Bal of the Su Clan," Su Bal replied, his tone firm. "Li Hai is part of my group. I'll overlook your actions this time, but if you dare touch him again after knowing this..." Su Bal left the threat unfinished, but his meaning was clear.
Kai laughed coldly. "You'll do what, exactly?" he sneered. "If I want to kill him, no one in this realm can stop me." He stepped closer to Su Bal, exuding an oppressive aura.
The tension was palpable. Even Su Bal's followers were stunned, unsure of how to intervene. This was a clash between geniuses from powerful clans. They had no place in such a confrontation.
"He saved your life," the old man in Li Hai's consciousness said with a sigh. "If Su Bal hadn't arrived in time, I would've had to take over your body and fight Kai myself, though escaping would've been the priority."
"I know," Li Hai responded quietly, his expression resolute. "He's like a brother to me now. I'll make sure he's rewarded."
A voice suddenly cut through the tension. "What about adding me? I'm Mo Chu from the Cloud Fairy Ancient Sect." A young woman strode forward, her gaze fierce as she faced Kai. She was livid. She had only left Li Hai briefly to speak with her sect members, and now she saw that Kai had nearly killed him. Her anger burned brightly.
Kai's frown deepened. If it had been just Su Bal, he might have taken the risk to fight and kill Li Hai. But now, with this woman from an Ancient Sect stepping in, the situation was far more complicated.
"Your life was spared, boy," Kai said coldly, preparing to leave. Though he retreated, he was seething inside. His original intention was to kill Li Hai for personal strength, but now the interference of these two and their use of clan and sect backing infuriated him. This isn't over, Kai thought, walking away with simmering anger.
